Keeping it Clean ;)

30 Jan

I am so proud of myself!! I have successfully managed to enjoy my weekend while getting things accomplished! I have spent some serious quality time with my husband, cooked & cleaned, did some laundry, and crocheted like a mad women!

Last night B and I watched Bounty Hunter with Jennifer Aniston and Gerard Butler. B warned me that this movie was up for “the worst movie” awards and we watched it knowing it wasn’t going to be one of our top favorites. I am a huge fan of Jennifer Aniston and Gerard Butler is easy to stare at for a couple of hours 😉 This movie wasn’t my top favorite but it was cute and funny! It didn’t deserve to be up for the worst movie ever but it also wasn’t a to die for one. I would watch it again, and probably again. Just because I love Jennifer and Gerard that much 😀

This movie wasn’t as easy to crochet during though! Probably because I wasn’t rolling my eyes through the whole move like The Watchmen haha, but I am excited to say that I am on the final two skanes of T’s blanket! This is going to be the hard, but most interesting part of the blanket. T’s life motto is “Walk By Faith” and she has it tattooed along her foot. So I thought it would be fun to add that onto the blanket along with some cute footprints 🙂 We’ll see how it turns out! E is down for her nap so this is going to be the ultimate time to get it done.

This morning I spent the entire morning in the kitchen (willingly and excited). I made B a bacon egg & cheese sandwich (omelet style in between toast) with some bacon on the side, I made E scrambled eggs & cheese, then since she didn’t eat much of her eggs I made her and I the Deceptively Delicious Pumpkin French Toast. B tried it and instead of taking a bite, he took the whole piece so I had to make me more!! The French Toast and Banana Bread have been a super big hit in this family. I am looking forward to some more of Jessica Seinfeld‘s baking and breakfast recipes! After the lasagna I have been a little iffy about the meals but I’ll buckle down and try them soon.

After all that breakfast making and cleaning, I took a shower and it was lunch time!! Chicken nuggets for E, taco soup for me, and I whipped up a crock pot full of potluck (cheesy) potatoes for dinner tonight. The best part of all this cooking is that the kitchen is spotless right now 😉

So that’s been my amazing successful morning. Obviously I didn’t have anything to post yesterday because it wasn’t that exciting. It consisted of E meltdowns, mommy meltdowns, and daddy having a not so good video game day! Thank goodness today is looking brighter 😛 (It was the french toast I bet haha)

I’ll start posting pictures once the blanket starts showing some letters.

Love Always,

I’m getting the last laugh now :)

29 Jan

Yes, I do realize that is 12:26 in the morning and I am typing a blog post. I also realize that I am going to wake up at 7:15, take a shower, put makeup on, do my hair, eat breakfast, and wait for E to wake up around 8:15. Let’s get real here, I never stay up!! So tonight I am saying, what the heck!! There is nothing crazy important that needs to be done tomorrow so I am spoiling myself and having some me time with my hubby!

Tonight we watched “The Watchmenmovie. When I was in college my sophomore english class had to read this comic book and continuously write about what we thought was going to happen next. I am sure my teacher was snickering when he knew that all of us had no flipping clue what was going to happen next, nor did we want to guess. Well I ended that year with a 5 page paper stating why I did not like this comic book. Why did I not like it? I couldn’t figure out who was who, what they were doing, or why and when the end happened and the person that did “it” was reviled, I sadly didn’t even remember who he was. That’s the thing that I don’t like about comic books, you can read and reread and stare at the pictures all day long but ultimately, you have no clue what the heck is going on!!!!!!!!!! So I bet he is probably snickering again right now at the fact that the one student who protested how much she hated this comic book actually watched the movie. And now I get to snicker 🙂

A quote from my husband to his friends via video game bluetooth, “It wasn’t that great, I didn’t even really feel for any of the characters. I like to care about who is going to die and who is going to live and it’s hard when you don’t even really know the character or the back story. It really wasn’t that good.”

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!! Thank you. Point proven. This story line, needed more .. oh i don’t know. STORY! And that is all I have to say.

Now you are probably wondering, if this movie was so bad then why did you stay up until 12:30 to tell me? Well after we watched the movie B decided to play video games and honestly, it’s a lot more fun than The Watchmen.

Also a little sidenote of amazingness that happened in my MOST AMAZING day since January started 😀 I crocheted an entire skane while sitting through that three-hour madness! We are totally watching more movies friday nights and staying up late so I can bust out some awesome uninterrupted craftiness.

Hope everyone else is having a great morning, night, whatever 😛

Love Always,

Snow Day!

Zombie Killer, Yes I am!

26 Jan

What a crazy day turned pretty good! This morning E and I woke up late, I gave her a bath and fed her breakfast in the tub 🙂 She is spoiled, yes I know. Then we got ready, went to lunch with Nana & Oma and to her doctor’s appointment. As usual the pediatrician said she is doing amazing but said she could use a little more help with words so we are going to work on vocabulary these next few weeks to see if we get anywhere. They also took her iron level and she is perfect in that area.

After all that E and I needed a serious nap time! While she napped I decided to be lazy. It wasn’t until B came home that I realized that I have done absolutely nothing today so I grabbed some hot chocolate and snacks and immediately felt so much better. I got off my lazy butt made some dinner and played Zombies 😛 Yes that’s right, you read it right! I played Call of Duty Zombie’s and I didn’t do so bad!! I am a proud wife of a video gamer and usually leave the gaming to him but since he was doing some of the cooking he needed me to take over so he didn’t die. Not only did I not die, but I killed zombies, and got him points!! I realize to probably all of you that it isn’t that cool but to me, it’s AWESOME!

So tonight? I am writing this post, while E is sitting next to me playing on her computer (on the teaching words section) and B is talking smack to his friends and playing Zombies. I know it doesn’t seem much different then any other night but I am throughly enjoying myself and how amazing my family is right now 😀

Did I mention it’s snowing inches and pounds of snow like crazy? Crossing my fingers B gets off tomorrow so we can all go out and play in the snow together! (You better bet I’ll have pictures tomorrow)

I just finished reading my first book for the 2011 book challenge and it was hands down the best book I have read in a while!

Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet by Jamie Ford

Barnes and Noble description:

In the opening pages of Jamie Ford’s stunning debut novel, Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet, Henry Lee comes upon a crowd gathered outside the Panama Hotel, once the gateway to Seattle’s Japantown. It has been boarded up for decades, but now the new owner has made an incredible discovery: the belongings of Japanese families, left when they were rounded up and sent to internment camps during World War II. As Henry looks on, the owner opens a Japanese parasol.

This simple act takes old Henry Lee back to the 1940s, at the height of the war, when young Henry’s world is a jumble of confusion and excitement, and to his father, who is obsessed with the war in China and having Henry grow up American. While “scholarshipping” at the exclusive Rainier Elementary, where the white kids ignore him, Henry meets Keiko Okabe, a young Japanese American student. Amid the chaos of blackouts, curfews, and FBI raids, Henry and Keiko forge a bond of friendship–and innocent love–that transcends the long-standing prejudices of their Old World ancestors. And after Keiko and her family are swept up in the evacuations to the internment camps, she and Henry are left only with the hope that the war will end, and that their promise to each other will be kept.

Forty years later, Henry Lee is certain that the parasol belonged to Keiko. In the hotel’s dark dusty basement he begins looking for signs of the Okabe family’s belongings and for a long-lost object whose value he cannot begin to measure. Now a widower, Henry is still trying to find his voice–words that might explain the actions of his nationalistic father; words that might bridge the gap between him and his modern, Chinese American son; words that might help him confront the choices he made many years ago.

Set during one of the most conflicted and volatile times in American history, Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet is an extraordinary story of commitment and enduring hope. In Henry and Keiko, Jamie Ford has created an unforgettable duo whose story teaches us of the power of forgiveness and the human heart.

I haven’t read a book like this since highschool. I completely felt every emotion by the main character and had a hard time putting this book down. I am not a big fan of historical related books, especially when it comes to wars but this isn’t the typical war/history story. This takes you much deeper, into the life of a young boy looking for his place in the world, looking for the one person he can’t seem to stop thinking about. This book is a one in a million truly amazing story. I would recommend it to anyone and everyone I met, even if I didn’t know a thing about them!! This book is now my second favorite book I have EVER read. Not to mention it’s $5.00 on the nook! So stop wasting your time! GO BUY IT NOW!!!

If you want more information about Jamie Ford here is his website:

I give this book a 100 out of 5 🙂 It’s that good!

Love Always,

(If you are wondering what book is my number one check out Carry Me Home by Wm. Lee Carter (William Lee Carter) it is a tough read due to the fact that he writes in the slang/country accent but it’s totally worth it!!)

Laundry Day

25 Jan

Today is laundry day. It’s also take care of sick baby day. I don’t know where my motivation has gone but I am starting to think it’s completely out the window! It’s day four of accomplishing nothing besides finishing my fifth skane on T’s blanket. It’s day four of feeling like all I want to do is sit on the couch and not move a muscle. I hope I am not getting sick too!

Maybe I should turn on some Taylor Swift and drink some hot chocolate! Maybe my mom wouldn’t mind babysitting E for a little so I could get some chores done.. maybe I should get my butt off this computer and take some Tylenol 😛

Hopefully my next blog is a little more motivational!

Easy Peasy

24 Jan

So here I was this morning completely overwhelmed, off schedule, and not feeling so hot. E was on the fussy side – probably teething or not feeling well either, not eating, not really playing either. It took me until nap time to get my head on straight. I made a little list to do and got in the shower. Completed half the list and realized I was feeling so overwhelmed that I literally laid down and did nothing. Then “BAM” it hit me. All day today I have been saying in my head, I need to do this, I need to do that, It’s been way too long since I vacuumed, I haven’t really cooked anything today, I’ve got nothing to blog about, I don’t feel like sewing, I haven’t cleaned out the storage and I said I would dedicate an hour to it, oh that’s right.. I haven’t done anything I’m supposed to do today..

Step 2 to my chaos. Did the few things on my list to make the house (besides my bedroom) look acceptable and decided that I am spreading my huge long list of things to do throughout the week instead of one entire day of list list list! Laundry does not have to be done in one day (although I can try), vacuuming can wait until tomorrow, cleaning up the bedroom can wait two days, cleaning the bathroom can wait three, but i’ll still do a little bit of the storage each day, and that will give me to craft.

B said something yesterday and I almost threw a pillow at his face. He said he thinks he could get everything done that needed to be done and still play his video games most of the day if he was a stay at home dad. Yes he does an amazing job of doing dishes, cooking, helping with E, and still playing video games but it’s TWO days TWO days!! I’d like to see him try a weeks worth of chores and take care of E. I don’t think he’d get half the things done he thinks he would 😉

Although half the time I wish he was. I miss him when he’s gone and I think he would be a great stay at home dad. It would be nice to have an extra hand all day but we would both have to have jobs from home, which means we would still really be working half the day. At least we could trade hours 😉

Well today I am crocheting (what’s new right!?), E should be up any minute, and B is home with a headache.. looks like today was a rough one for him too! I’m thinking leftovers for dinner or taco salads.. Easy peasy.

Goodmorning Zombie

23 Jan

E woke up at 5:00 a.m. this morning with a serious boost of energy! I know I looked like a zombie and probably was absolutely no fun to play with but she seemed to have a good time playing by herself. Which brings us to 12:15 p.m. E barely ate any of her lunch (she did have a huge breakfast) and it took her all of 2 minutes to pass out as soon as she was laying on the couch. I picked her up and put her in her crib without waking her up and that never happens! Somebody was tired!! I’m not sure if this is going to be a continuous thing and I am crossing my fingers it’s not but I’d have to say she has been an angel all day long.

So here I am a little on the exhausted side trying to figure out what I want to eat for lunch and a little on the bummed side. I tried the Lasagna out of the Deceptively Delicious book and didn’t add the puree‘s just so I could see if I liked the recipe before I added deception 🙂 It wasn’t exactly my favorite thing in the world. This recipe is quite different from the way that my family usually makes lasagna so I was going into it with an ehh kind of mood. She uses cottage cheese and we use ricotta, she uses mozzarella and we use cheddar (and lots of it!!), she uses canned whole tomatoes pureed and we use tomato sauce (again LOTS of it!). I think I’ll stick to my version of lasagna and see if I can add deception that way. The way that she instructs you to make the meat it clumped it all together so it made it hard to spread out evenly in the pan, and the tomato wholes made it watery and not really saucy. The other thing I wasn’t to crazy about was that it was kind of bland. I think I would double the amount of garlic that she put in and maybe some other italian spices.

So far it’s the only recipe that I have tried that I don’t like! So I am not giving up, but I am making my own homemade lasagna 🙂

B has been amazing all day today. When he woke up and realized that E and I had been up since 5:00 a.m. he made breakfast for me, cleaned it up, took care of E when she needed attention, made her lunch, cleaned it up, and is now making me lunch. 😀 I am the luckiest girl in the world. He is even making tea (with the help of my instructions). What an amazing guy.

B plans on watching football all afternoon, and I’ll be watching the Steelers game tonight!! GO STEELERS!! And I am crossing my fingers E stays the little angel that she has been all morning so we can continue to have a completely lazy day (hopefully including a nap for me!)

I’ll be more interesting tomorrow, I promise 😉

Five Guys & Banana Bread

21 Jan

Yeah I didn’t cook dinner tonight. As soon as I finished typing my last post B got out of the shower and suggested that he go pick up Five Guys for dinner. How could you refuse!!? Plus he said he had been craving it for the past week. So no cooking for me, instead a yummy, greasy replacement 🙂

And I know what you really wanted to see! The finished Banana Bread!! But before I could get a picture of the whole loaf, my parents stole half of it and B and I keep eating it 🙂 I guess you could say this recipe is AMAZING! Because it’s going to be gone before tomorrow comes! Way to go Jessica Seinfeld, you are a Deceptively Delicious Genius!

BY the way I was going a little research and she has made another cookbook that came out in October called Double Delicious for beginners. I am a total beginner!!! I think that book will be on my “to be purchased list” asap!

The rest of tonight is looking relaxing and worry free 🙂 I plan on crocheting and keeping it calm. Tomorrow I am having girls day with my mom and B’s mom while the boys go watch Green Hornet. Should be lots of fun, and I think I am going to make lasagna tomorrow.

Love Always,

I think I am becoming a Bake-aholic..

21 Jan

After fantastic french toast this morning I was super excited to make some blueberry muffins and banana bread! The blueberry muffins come out of a box so there’s nothing exciting about that but it’s still Yummy!!

So how well do they taste? B has already eaten two and he just got home 😉

The hardest part of making banana bread besides cleaning up was mashing the bananas!! It might be because I was also watching Dr. Phil at the same time .. haha .. okay so that most likely was the problem but it felt like it took forever!! I used the Deceptively Delicious recipe but I didn’t put anything deceptive in it. Just bananas!

We’ll see how B likes that one. It’s in the oven right now and will be ready in an hour! It’ll be his appetizer 😛

I still haven’t decided what I am going to do for dinner tonight.. I am thinking another easy meal since I spent all day cooking already. Maybe chicken nuggets & mac ‘n’ cheese!? Or Stuffed Parmesan Chicken with Fettuccine Alfredo (minus the fettuccine and replace with spaghetti since we at the last of the fettuccine last time .. oops!) It’s not as easy but it’s sooo good it’s totally worth it!
