Daily Life: Girls Day Out!

30 Apr

Just what every girl needs 😀 A girls day out! My mom, my sister, and I went to a book signing/reading, then took a walk in the city checking out the stores. We ended up stopping in this cute cafe for cookies and drinks! I could totally imagine myself sitting in there reading while sipping on tea or coffee, maybe even blogging! They had a little sitting area outside for those weather perfect days like today and it made me kind of wish I had that lifestyle. I know, I know, my entire life I have always wanted to liI love the small town ve in a small little town perferably near a beach 😉 but the convience of walking down the street and having all your needs met was so nice! Plus the stroll along the sidewalk was soothing and fun!

Of course I took pictures 😀

This was the book signing/reading we went to. Forget-Her-Nots by Amy Brecount White. I came out with a little thing of flowers and learning some new things like Gerbera Daisies mean Simplicity ..

my wedding was filled with Gerbera Daisies .. mainly because I am obsessed with how cute and vibrant they are, but what a coincidence! My wedding was completely simple!

I love this type of walkway. Big and large with spaces clearly defined for enjoying the warm weather and eating some food!!

This was once of the stores there. It was a consignment store for Couture and Vogue clothing brands. Totally chic but thrifty at the same time 😉

And this was an AWESOME store!! I don’t know what it is about toy stores but even before I had E I was in love with them. If I could get all my old lego’s, barbie stuff, puzzles, board games, and etc out and play them all day without being ridiculed .. I would!!

This was the inside! TOTALLY awesome! I wanted to buy everything of course 😉

What a relaxing day 😀 Now I’m sitting out on my mom’s deck watching E play with all her water toys (without the water) snacking on whatever Oma and Papa will give her, and enjoying the awesome smells that are coming out of my parents kitchen.

Can I do this everyday?  But tomorrow I plan on crafting 😉

Daily Life: Fabulous Friday’s

29 Apr

Although I worked today it really seemed like I was on the couch all day reading 😀 What a perfect work day huh? P napped all morning woke up to eat and play for two hours then went back to sleep! Both E and P slept at the same time for 2 and half hours!!

Yeah let’s just say I finished the Pretty Little Liars series and there was a huge twist at the end. Enough of a twist that all of my guesses were completely wrong! As much as I loved reading this series I have to say I was a little disappointed in it. Every time you started a new book the first chapter seemed to be reminding you of everything that happened in the last and when you are reading them back to back you just want to skip through the whole chapter because you already know!! The other disappointing thing was by book 3 I realized that whoever they hinted it was going to be .. it wasn’t. So when I was reading 4 through 8 I just assumed the hints were wrong, which made it a little boring. I found myself searching for other possible hints that could lead me to the answer but I got no where. Now don’t get me wrong! I did like these books and obviously kept reading until the last one, I just might have tweaked it a little if I were the writer.

So back to P! She is crawling now! And by crawling I mean getting across the floor to whatever toy she finds most interesting. I also caught her playing in her crib today. She was bouncing on her knees playing with her little blankie toy. So cute! Since the girls napped all day we didn’t have much to get fussy so both of them were constantly in a good mood!! Lucky me!! We also went for a walk to keep them entertained until Mommy came to pick up P.

I’m lucking out double time tonight because B is making dinner. We tried this recipe from his mom for sloppy joe’s and they are to DIE FOR! Coming from someone how doesn’t eat plain meat, and by that I mean I don’t eat meat without some kind of sauce, seasoning, bread, potatoes, or a zillion other additions 😀 When my parents made sloppy joe’s I made a face, a grunt, and ate my buns with as little meat as possible. Oh and devoured the fries that came with! When B makes sloppy joe’s I eat them whole, in seconds! They were so delicious I ate two!! So yeap, I don’t have to cook tonight, it’s going to be a fantastic meal, and I already made pasta salad yesterday for a yummy side (along with some chips). Yummy!!

Now if this headache that came out of no where would take a hike..

Daily Life: Busy Busy Bee

28 Apr

What a busy busy day! I spent this morning getting ready to run errands, budgeting, catching up on America’s Next Top Model, and eating. Yes today was running errands day but it was stalled due to tornado warnings. We ended up not going out until E’s nap time so I dropped her off at Nana’s so she wouldn’t miss it and hopefully would be in a much better mood by the time we came back! I’m not sure what’s going on with her lately but she has been really clingly and completely whiney. She wants to be held all day long while I am trying to do chores and usually she just goes off and plays with something or brings me something for us to play with. Instead she was at my fit crying hysterically when I wouldn’t constantly hold her. It’s not easy to get much accomplished this way.. so I sat down for a little bit with her in my lap but that didn’t seem to please her either. My mom seems to think it’s just a phase and probably a normal phase for her age and I think she might be right.

Have you had this problem? What did you do? How do you explain to a child who doesn’t understand that you can’t hold her 24-7?

On another note, I bought stamps, exchanged my cushion for my patio, went grocery shopping, but more importantly.. bought potty training things!! Today E sat on the potty fully clothed a couple of times but when I put her on it nakie she was too happy! It might take some getting used to 😉 So here starts the introducing of the potty stage, this could be fun!

After all those errands this morning and picking up the house yet again, I made some dinner and some pasta salad for a  side for tomorrow’s dinner. I wanted to make some spaghetti sauce to freeze and use later but I got too exhausted. We’ll see if I have the energy tomorrow but I doubt it since I’ll have P all day.

B is watching the NFL draft tonight so I might just fall asleep right here in the couch in a few minutes 😉

Hopefully I’ll have more interesting things to show and tell later this weekend!!

Daily Life: Just what I needed!

27 Apr

Thank you, thank you, thank you!! Today was exactly what this girl needed! A break from the chaos but still a day of getting things done!

I had P today and she came a half hour early and left a half hour later. Her daddy is out-of-town and her mom is trying to “make it work”. Poor thing!! That’s okay with me though, I’ll either get an extra hour pay or get an hour off early soon. Not to mention that little P was in a great mood all day (except for a little mishap at 3:30 where she was cussing me out in baby babbles because she was tired.. whoops! Yeap, I tried everything but nap time then realized – wait a minute, she woke up a half hour earlier during her last nap time.. duh! The child is just needs some shut-eye!)  So overall work was a fairly easy day.

I got a good walk (stroller time) with the girls this morning and walked a lot further than I usually do which means endorphins for this mommy! Yay things that put me in a good mood 😀

I spent some serious me time while both the girls napped and read until I fell asleep too! Shut eye for mommy is a double plus!

And with all that activity going on I still managed to clean the entire kitchen, get the patio cleaned up and cushions put away for the crazy storm coming, and pick up after the little mess makers! Hoorayy!!

I also got a break on dinner. B and I ordered pizza and E apparently thought that was a wonderful choice and devoured it. No cooking, no cleaning, for fixing something for baby! This is just a perfect day for me.

Now I am relaxing on the couch, watching a recorded Property Virgins (I love that show) and enjoying the warm weather and cool rain with my patio door wide open.

Tomorrow is my day off/running errands day and I am excited for that too! We are stopping by JoAnn‘s for some crafty things, Babies R Us to pick up a potty and pull ups for E, heading to Lowe’s to trade in my cushion for the right size, maybe Sam’s to pick up some bulk things, then the grocery store. Hooray for food in the house!! It’ll be nice to have choices again instead of scrambling to find what we have left..

A couple other pluses – B is going golfing this weekend, and next week will be starting practicing tennis for a tournament with the guys in our country club! He hasn’t played in a while but I know he really misses it so it’ll be exciting to see him doing something he loves.

Saturday I might be going to an author signing at One More Page Books for Amy Brecount White who wrote the book Forget-Her-Nots.

There’s a lot to look forward to and maybe even some craftiness!

Hope you have a wonderful week and weekend with your family too!

Working Mom: A Painful Day!

25 Apr

Sunday night I sat here dreading working today. I normally don’t dread working because I love kids and my job is playing with them and taking care of them all day, but for some reason I was just really not ready for it. Well my gut instinct was ridiculously correct. P had a completely horrible day today. Somebody is not only teething, but she was so constipated that she was screaming.. constantly. I couldn’t get her to eat anything but I was determined to flush her out with fluids or fruits so I kept trying with the bottle. She finally relaxed long enough for me to get lunch ready for all of us and eat, well kind of.. P wouldn’t eat anything else, and E decided to follow along. Not only did she scream for attention all morning but she refused to eat her lunch as well.

Then nap time … dun dun dunnn. Haha just kidding. Kind of.

P went down with a little fussing but not too much trouble, E on the other hand seemed completely fine one minute then was literally standing, snot running down her nose, tears rolling down her face, wailing. I don’t even know if she was really breathing much at all because it was just a constant flood of snot, tears, and wails. S is here by that time and running in circles around me asking me a million questions dying to jump in a swimming pool that needs to be blown up and filled with water..

E took a bottle and I put her down for a nap, then finally got the pool ready and S was then a happy camper.

It was not long after that then P woke up. Much happier at this point and a little less constipated but that only lasted a little while and she was back to being angry. I don’t know how it happened, but the last hour seemed to fly by. Maybe it was because I gave the girls a snack, juice, and put in Finding Nemo and kept myself busy cleaning the entire place while P was taking another short nap, or maybe it was because I didn’t have the chance to look at the clock until it was 4:30 but HOORAYY! Mommy came and got her girls and I plopped down on the couch in complete exhaustion.

If it wasn’t for my mom keeping me sane and my husband coming home, cooking dinner, helping me clean dinner, making me laugh, changing E, and putting her to bed, I would be a zombie right now!

I really owe my family for everything they do for me.

After that mess of a day, I am going to go curl up in a ball and thank the Lord that I have tomorrow off! Oh and you might not want to expect much accomplishment happening tomorrow because I might still be curled up in a ball all day tomorrow 😉

Daily Life: Easter Update!

25 Apr

The weather here was perfect for easter! We woke up a little earlier than usual and got all dressed and pretty then it didn’t take long before E ran up the stairs to see what the easter bunny left her.

E had lots of fun!! Then we packed everything up and went to visit the other side of the family! We ate lots of food ran around the house in circles, ran around the porch, then went easter egg hunting!!

Someone had a great time egg hunting that she didn’t want to stop!! Silly girl. She also got an outdoor water toy that sprays water. I’m hoping we have time to try it out today! I have a feeling she’ll absolutely love it.

Daily Life: What a day!

23 Apr

I am so proud of myself today! I’m completely satisfied with how I spent my day and hopefully I will find some time to keep up with that much crafting. I realize being a mom and being a caregiver for two other children come first and that’s my most important job but somehow I think I can figure out a way to balance them both. Maybe a little less cleaning on my days off and a little more fun 😉 Now that I’ve got my sewing stuff out and had a little fun with it I am back to making lists of ideas to make! Obviously they are going to have to be budget friendly so it may be a once a month kind of thing but the more I sew the more I realize how much I love it!!

I’ve also got a few more ideas up my sleeve for some other things 😀 I made a list of different scarves that I want to make and since I am going to be done with the pink stripes in two rows I can’t wait to dig into these! I have also wanted to try doing something a little different with crocheting, like those little stuffed animals, bracelets, and of course monograming. One of these days I’ll get enough guts to try it out on one of my already made scarves but I think I keep second guessing myself!

Tomorrow we are spending the day visiting family for easter. Nana bought E the cutest dress ever and I can’t wait to see her in it! I promise I’ll take pictures and let you see 😀 This is also going to be the first time that E hunts for eggs! Let’s see if she figures it out 😉 I hope she does!!

Crafts: A Mom’s Day Off Success Story ;)

23 Apr

Let me just start off by saying that I absolutely love my child. I really really adore her – but today ROCKED! I put aside my daily chores, put aside the cleaning nagging feeling inside, put aside electronic distractions, gave my child to her Nana, and B even got out of the house to pick up a few things and wash his car 😀

Today was a completely awesome mommy day off and I have proof to show 😉

I’ve been dying to pull out my sewing machine so I started off with some scrap fabric I picked up and a zipper I had for another project 😛 I didn’t use a pattern or really measure (very well). I just made a zipper pouch for the fun of not having to follow directions, take twenty minutes to figure out what the heck they are saying, oh and hey I didn’t even iron the fabric 😛 I went all out and did it my way or the highway and I love it!! Now that I’ve finished making it, I have a better idea of an easier more flawless way to make it but who cares!? I just wanted to make SOMETHING! and I did .. so here it is 😀

I don’t know exactly what I am going to use it for yet, but who cares?! LOOK WHAT I MADE!! So proud of me 😀

After that I made some report cards for next week. Yes I would show you pictures but they aren’t that amazing. I kinda went skimpy/boring on them just because I wanted to get them done. If I get the itch to make them better after dinner I’ll see what I can do then maybe they’ll be picture worthy.

Then after that I took a lunch break! Yay two PB&J’s please and thank you! Then it was back to work, after I sat for a minute, and watched TV (insert guilty face). I blame B, he was lounging watching TV and I couldn’t resist.

Then back to work it was for me! I decided to use my new paint pens, yes!! I ordered some new paint pens 😀

So of course I had to use them Right Away!! Well if you saw my last monkey frame.. it was a sad disaster. I decided now that I have the colors I needed that I’d try again. Here’s how it turned out:

Much better looking monkeys if I do say so myself 😉 Well that was way too much fun! I needed today to kick it back and just be creative and I have a feeling I’m going to have to figure out how to do this with E somehow. I’ll have to come up with some plans on keeping her distracted happy and maybe even crafty with me (as in crayons and paper crafty). Never know until you try!?

Well it’s about time to go pick munchkin up so I’ll be back later tonight!

Daily Life: A Mommy Day Off!

23 Apr

First off, I want to say a BIG thank you to my mother-in-law for giving me a mommy day off!! Hopefully Nana and E have a fantastic day together 😀 while I get a million things done!! There are so many things that I just keep putting off and this is going to be the day I get as much of it done as possible!! I’m trying not to clean today.. if at all possible because I clean every day and if I just waste my mommy day off cleaning I think I might scream..

So what’s on my list to do today?

Obviously something crafty 😉 but I do need to do some filing and going through the paperwork that’s stacking up on my desk. I’m going to get at least one load of laundry done and that will be all the cleaning that I do! I want to go through my craft books and extra craft stuff to get some inspiration but my major list is what I am not allowed to do today!

I’m turning off the TV and only listening to music today. No cleaning miscellaneous stuff that I can do any other day!! No making an extravagant lunch, I’m eating PB&J’s. Fast, easy, back to mommy day. No computer after this blog post .. I’ll just have to get over it 😉

This is my one chance to actually do the list of things I’ve been wanting to do without interruptions!!

Wish me luck 😉

Crafts: Crazy about Elephants

22 Apr

Hooray!! I finally finished the second elephant frame! Of course it’s raining outside so my pictures aren’t the best of quality but here they are:

I think I’m starting to fall in love with elephants 😀
