Daily Life: Today’s Events!

30 May

Today I accomplished more than I have in weeks!! This getting back on track and seriously inspired is working!

I started my couponing and although I don’t plan on being an extreme couponer, I do plan on stealing some sweet deals. Instead of just cutting all the coupons I am sticking to the brands I love and what we keep stocked in the house already. No need to go to the extreme and buy things we really don’t plan on using or even like!! I organized them in a little container I had bought for study cards that I was no longer using! Check it out:

Then I did a little shopping 🙂

Serious embroidery possibilities 😀

Magnet canvas for my gift card project

Tracing paper for embroidery projects

Gray felt for a little elephant 😀

Zippers for my nook covers

Cute fabric for nook covers

And a sneak peak of the sailor inspired scarf!

Plus my handy-dandy notebook!

Next to come – embroidery project number one!!

Daily Life: The Notebook Begins

29 May

Okay, so I am not exactly sure what happened to me last night. It might have been the three cups of caffeine that I drank (I haven’t had caffeine in at least a month) or it might have been pure excitement and inspiration but I went into crazy mode! For those of you who don’t know crazy mode, let me explain.

You know that feeling when one idea leads to another and then you have a list of things you want to get or do to make it happen. Then you have a few questions that might involve doing a little research. Then you have this plan that sounds fantastic and a time limit and budget. Then on top of that you get this completely random totally off subject idea about something else. Then start planning and fantasizing about that. Next thing you know your mind is going in a million directions and you want to do it all!! Now!!

That was my crazy mode. It was so crazy that I couldn’t get any sleep. So like everyone suggest when you have a million things on your mind and all you want to do is sleep.. I wrote them down in a notebook but somehow that suggestion that is sure to work doesn’t. I find myself laying in bed going over everything I wrote down again and again yet still awake.

After finally falling asleep at 1:30 last night I woke up at 5:30 a.m. ready to go! I got this burst of energy like it was time to get up and get it started. Me being the person who daydreams, plans my day, budgets, and does some serious thinking in the shower – I thought that might be the perfect way to start the day. Nope. I couldn’t wait to get out of the shower to start doing all my plans that I had already planned to do.

Then here I am. After y shower. 6:30 a.m. and I have no idea where to start. My brian is so clustered with so many ideas at one time I want to do it ALL! Another problem: I only have half of the things I need to start half these projects..

Looks like I’ll be crocheting and waiting for my mom to go shopping with me. I need a clear head to help me stay on track! Until then I am keeping this new notebook beside and I might not let it out of my sight incase I have any more crazy ideas!

This could be an interesting day!

Daily Life: Gift Cards Please?

28 May

Hey everyone! After my past few days being like a rollercoaster I have finally hit inspiration mode! I’m not sure exactly what it is but I can’t stop coming up with brilliant ideas! Well, I hope they are brilliant 😀 Nothing else gets me more motivated than seeing something so thrifty and well made. My next project is going to include recycled gift cards. I have a few of these just lying around in miscellaneous places. I know one of them has like two bucks on it.. but the store is like an hour away and I rarely go! So if you live in Northern Virginia and are weird like me and actually have empty used gift cards send them to me!!

Let’s see how many I can get!

Totally off subject, has anyone been watching extreme couponing!? I dvr’d this show and watched two of them this morning before house shopping. As much as I would love to have a stockpile of food and get as much of it as possible for free I doubt I could ever actually do it. One of the things I noticed with these couponers is that they get packets and packets of the same coupons. Although I have an amazing mother in law who thankfully gives me her coupons I don’t think two packs would cut it. Nor do I have the time to cut a zillion coupons!! I am thinking about at least checking what my grocery store is putting on sale to see if there are coupons to make it free but instead of buying 100 things of toothpaste, I’ll stick to two 😉 Another thing to notice about this show is that they never buy staples like bread, milk, and perishable items. Only one girl so far actually bought stockpiles of frozen foods. She might have been one of my favorites because I just stockpiled my freezer with fruits and veggies. But keep in mind I bought one bag of each from Sam’s and they’ll probably last me 6 months 😀 So when I say stockpile I mean two bags. Haha. Who knows maybe instead of saving thousands of dollars, I’ll just save a hundred or so.

Also completely random: I am crocheting a “sailor” striped inspired scarf. I’m not exactly sure if they are that much in style, but I love them. I’m also going to try to put pockets on them. I saw this scarf that had pockets on the ends so you could put your hands or maybe a cell phone in it. Super cute so lets see if I can pull it off 😉

Lot’s to do! I’ll be busy tomorrow.

Daily Life: Well Hello There ;)

27 May

Wow it’s been a while! Thankfully both girls are down for a nap so I thought I’d squeeze in some time to catch everyone up! For the past couple of days I have been constantly on the phone and doing some serious research and emailing. Then when I’ve had down time I’ve been laying in the couch moaning and groaning.. dang allergies!

Tomorrow is the most exciting day EVER! B and I are going to go look at houses, and not just drive by the neighbor and daydream what the inside and the backyard look like. We are actually looking/walking through houses! Hoorayy!! Who knows!? Maybe this time next month we’ll have a contract on a new place 😀

I can’t tell you how many websites I have been on researching homes around the area and since are budget is pretty strict it makes the narrowing down pretty easy. Also a huge thanks to an amazing family member (who is our realtor) we have found some pretty exciting ones to go see! It’s completely sad that right now as I am typing this my little fingers just want to go up to the search bar and look again 😉 I’m ridiculously excited here.

As for my allergies they seem to be getting better. My eyes are itching so bad I don’t know what to do but I’m back to sleeping through the night and the meds are starting to kick in so my energy levels are peaking again.

Another good thing is this place is probably the cleanest it’s been in weeks. Poor B has been coming home and picking up after E and I, doing dishes, helping with laundry, and giving up some serious game time just to help me out! Well last night I went to town and finally got this place up to par! Who knows, maybe I’ll actually get some spare time this weekend to do some crafts! My craft table hasn’t seen the light of day in a while and probably could use some tlc 😉

It feels good to be back 😀

Daily Life: Happy Anniversary!!

21 May

To my amazing husband and my best friend, happy one year anniversary!!! And for all of you wondering what we did.. of course we did the most untraditional thing ever 😉  I’ve come to realize that everything B and I do isn’t extravagant or completely elegant. Our wedding was simple, our life is simple, and our love is simple. And I love it!!

So today instead of spending a gazillion dollars we went house hunting! Yes we are officially in the market of buying a house! For quite some time I was wondering if it was ever going to happen but today we have found three 😀 We will be talking to our realtor and checking these babies out and who knows.. maybe in a few weeks or months we will be home owners! YAY!

Then after that we went to an early dinner at Carrabba’s! It’s B’s favorite place to eat and now definitely one of my favorites. Italian food is always on the top of my list but I’ve never gotten the meal I got today.. and let’s just say it bumped Carrabba’s up a bit!!

Then we went to a movie! We went to see Bridesmaids. Downright. Hilarious! B almost laughed until he cried.. or he might have cried (we’ll never really know) but it was that good! I don’t laugh out loud much when it comes to funny movies because I also worry about disturbing the people around me but I couldn’t hold it in. If you like SNL, Knocked Up, Superbad, or the Hangover, you will LOVE this movie – even if you are a male. This is the female version of all those hilarious male movies with crude humor and etc. and it’s Awesome! We will be buying it when it comes out on DVD.

Now he’s playing video games and I am back on the computer 😛 I don’t even care that this is the most typical weekend (minus not having E) because it’s time I get to spend with him. It doesn’t matter where we go or what we do, it’s the fact that we are together and enjoying the time we have. I’m so glad we get each other when it comes to things like this because I really feel like that makes us a stronger couple.

So happy one year anniversary to my one true love. I hope we spend the rest of our life being exactly who we are together.

Daily Life: What now?

19 May

I think I am stuck in a rut! I have a list of things I could do but none of them seem appealing right now. I could have been seriously crafty or organized today but instead I hung out with my mom. I love hanging out with her!! I don’t know if it’s because all my crafts are the same thing I have been doing (minus the bibs – which I didn’t have anymore lying around to do..) or if I’m just not in an inspired mood but I could be making a zillion report cards, at least 10 frames, probably 40 scarves, and monogramming fabric like crazy .. but I haven’t.

You know when you look at everyone else’s work and you think to yourself you could be doing that easily.. if only you had the drive to actually try!Sometimes I feel like there is so much craftiness bottled up inside of me that I can’t stop the ideas and excitement but in this case today I am running blank! Sure I have a list of things I could do and all of them sound fun, but there’s no excitement in it today.

Sometimes little things ruin the mood for me. Like noticing that I’ve only sold one thing on etsy, or the fact that no one is even looking at them!! For some reason I thought it would be easier to sell stuff on there but it’s not easy. Without marketing, or spending the money to have etsy market for you it’s nearly impossible to get viewed. Plus there are so many other people out there that are doing the exact same thing so competition is unbelievably hard.

I think I might need to take a little time doing some research and see what I can come up with. Ways to make it easier, ways to market without spending a fortune, ways to successfully make what you have worth so much more.

I might have just found my inspiration 😀

Crafts: Monogramming Baby Bibs

18 May

I managed to finish all the baby bibs in one sitting!! I considered doing embroidery but since it’s fairly new to me I stuck with cross-stitching. I think they turned out pretty well! Hopefully baby M’s Mommy loves them too.

I’m not going to lie. It was SUPER fun! This is something that I would seriously be willing to do for anyone .. at any time! It doesn’t take long at all and once you get started you don’t want to stop! I could probably do about 20 of these in one sitting. This is my new obsession!

I put the pictures in most favorite to least favorite. Just because I used a different pattern in each of them except the first two and those two were my favorite. The first bib was my favorite for sure and it shows the monogramming really well.

Does anyone know where I can bulk order bibs online? Haha. I might be in trouble here..

Crafts: A Family Affair

17 May

Thanks to my sister I have a few fun new projects to tackle! Her boyfriends sister is expecting a little baby boy so I got to go shopping for some bibs and I’m going to cross-stitch or embroider the letter M on them for the new baby boy. Since plain bibs are impossible to find, I found some a pack with some cute patterns on them and am hoping that the thread I picked will go well. These are my favorite projects to do, the ones that actually go to someone who can enjoy them! It’s fun to make projects for no one in particular but I love personalized gifts and can only imagine the excitement of someone else getting something just for them.

I’ll be taking pictures of the progress so you can see!

She also has another project for me! Turning a duvet cover into curtains!! Should be super easy and super fun!!!

I have a feeling I might get addicted to these things 😀

Crafts: Monogramming Round 2

15 May

After posting my first cross-stitching success I decided to bust my butt and finish the T! I had the top half done and pushed myself to finish it tonight 😀

It actually turned out a lot better than the P. Probably because I am getting the hang of it but I still want to try a smaller waste canvas size!

Another thought I had after finishing this one was just doing an outline instead of fulling it in and then trying a different type of stitching. I’m not sure if there are actually different ways to stitch but I’ve got some ideas in my head that I think would be cute 😀

Hopefully more to come soon!

Crafts: Monogramming Madness!

15 May

Hooray! I finished my first cross-stitching letter and .. I am not that great at it! But practice makes perfect so I am making a T next 😀

I am really happy I stuck with my idea even though everyone gave me funny faces when I suggested my plan! I think once I get better at cross-stitching it will be a super cute way to finish off my frames.

I also think I need to add a layer of stiffener to the back of it so it doesn’t pucker the fabric as much. I was a little worried when I had the idea that it would make the frames that much more expensive but it turns out cross-stitching is super cheap! Once you have the needles and hoop the waste canvas is $1.00 for 12″ by 8″ (which makes three frames worth for me) and the thread is like 60 cents each. One pack of thread did this entire P. I’m also thinking about getting a smaller size waste canvas so the little purple fabric doesn’t show through as much in between the stitches.

Let me know what you think!

Love Always,
