What got you interested in crafting?

I am a mom of four wonderful kids and wife to a creative, talented and loving husband. Sewing and crafting comes very naturally to me. There are many crafting and creative people in my family. My Mom got me started in crafting and I have been hooked ever since. My first craft was when I was 6 years old! I have been sewing for about 14 years. I sew almost everyday and I am always creating something. I have had a purse business that were all my own designs, for about 4 years now and I also do custom sewing projects. I have two items I make in a uniform shop located where I live too!

What’s the secret behind your etsy name?

The name for my shop came about when I was thinking of a fun name for my store. I was trying to think of a name that would mean something oto me and my mom. She makes these awesome thumbprint cookies with nut and jelly in the middle. So I thought it would make a great name! Since having my fourth baby, I have been teaching sewing lesson for the last two years. I love to help people to learn to sew. I love it and I want to share that passion with other people. So as a natural instinct to help and create, out came my store on ETSY called Thumbprint Patterns. I currently have four patterns in my store.

What inspires you to be crafty?

Inspiration for me comes from necessity. I make things to help solve a problem or make a new version of something I need or really like. The first pattern I made for my shop came from there not being one for my daughter that looked just like the one I made for myself. So I made my first garment pattern from scratch and I totally loved it.

What goals do you have for your store?

I hope to grow my collection of patterns over the next few years. I would love to have 10 patterns in each category ranging from beginner to advanced patterns. The types of patterns will vary also, having everything from dress patterns, home decor, and craft patterns. I am currently working on a pattern for kitchen table place mats, Christmas Stocking, and a new style of purse.

My husband is an art teacher and we hope to open a store someday. We want to have lessons for art sewing and crafting.

Having a home based business is a wonderful blessing for my growing family. I get to create and be home to help them.

Love Always,

J
