The Pocket Pillow

23 Aug

After doing my zipper mess up pillow last week I decided to show off how I make my pocket pillows. I also wanted to show everyone what it was in case they didn’t understand. I’m not really sure what these pillows are really called – so pocket pillow is my name for it!

First I cut out the fabric in three pieces. The two back pieces I ironed down a half an inch to make it a finished edge.

After sewing down the half inch edges I pinned the pillow all the way around in preparation to sew!

That zig zag triangle stitch is obviously my favorite πŸ˜‰ I feel like it makes everything so sturdy!

Once it was done I flipped it inside out!

Put the pillow in through the pocket in the back and it’s ready to go! Pocket pillows are my favorite because they are easy to sew, easy to get the pillow in and out for washing (I do have a messy toddler in my house), and you never have to worry about laying on an uncomfortable zipper when you are taking a nap πŸ™‚

The one negative to a pocket pillow is because it has the opening in the back it doesn’t hug the pillow extremely tight. I don’t mind that so it’s not a problem for me.

What do you think?

Thanks for stopping by!

Love Always,

Thanks! I was hoping to make a set of two but there’s just enough left for a front so now I’m looking for a cute back color!

I forgot about these types of coverings for pillows. I always had them growing up on my bed for decoration. Thanks for sharing, I think I’m going to try one. And I agree with thriftykristy I love the fabric!

Yes!! I love having them all over the house. It’s perfect if you end up having to wash things a lot and since we have sticky fingers around here – convenience is the key!

What a great way to make pillows, especially because they will be so easily washable. I will definitely making some of those.
