What To Do With All Those Scraps

4 May

In the process of getting organized and moving into the craft room I noticed I had a few bins of scrap fabrics. As exciting as that is for future projects, it’s also a bit overwhelming! So of course, I check out Pinterest to see what everyone else is doing with their scrap fabric to figure out a brilliant idea for myself!

As much as I love how cute this huge jar of scraps is, I think I’d be a bit flustered when trying to find the perfect match for a project! I think I am going to go with something more color coordinated so I can quick grab a few I love.

I love the color coordinating here but it still seems hard to find what you are looking for and the thought of it looking messy might drive me a little insane (I feel like I’m a little bit OCD here!).

Love Love Loving the idea of them color coded in drawers! Now if you haven’t seen my craft room it’s here, I’ve been trying to figure out what to do with my closet storage wise and had a little something like this in mind:

I’m thinking since I already have my yarn stashed elsewhere that at the top row I might put these red and black boxes full of my scraps into organized by color. My boxes look similar to this:

I love that they aren’t see through – so they hide the chaos but they can be labeled and are seriously functional! Now all I need is my handy helping men and a home depot run!

What do you do with all your scrap fabric?

Since I only crazy quilt, I keep my rather bulky satin and velvet scraps in an inexpensive drawer pullout thing I got from Walmart. (expense is relative to how much stuff you have to store and organize) The bins are solid black, but the drawer handles are actually openings with a silver metal surround. I can see a peek of the color, so I know what is in each drawer without labels. I love it. There are 12 roomy drawers all together. I’ve been very happy with it in the past year that I have been using it.

Thanks for sharing! Anything that lasts a year in my book is a keeper, glad it’s working for you. I love inexpensive things too – budget friendly is always the way to go!
