Bed Sheet Art!

13 Sep

This is the second project I’ve done with a leftover bed sheet! If you decide you want to make wall art out of the bed sheets you use – it might be a great idea to buy an extra pair of sheets to create a matching atmosphere!

I took the bed sheet, a piece of mat board, and some vinyl to use for letters made from my cricut!

I cut out fabric and used adhesive to stick it to the back of the mat board.

Then I cut out the letters with my cricut on vinyl paper!

What do you think!?

Thoughtful Thursday: Bad Day Bad Day GO AWAY!

9 Feb

How do you get out of a slump from a horribly no good day? Sometimes when I’m having one of those no good days I have to stop whatever I’m trying to do and sit for a little while. It’s usually those no good days that I actually have time and REALLY want to craft but I know if I do I’ll just mess it up somehow and end up grumpier than I started. Here are some tips I found to beat those absolutely horrible days or at least just keep you entertained enough to pass the time away 😉

  • Turn on your favorite music to lighten up the mood and keep happy thoughts in your head!

  • Check out your calendar for the week and make sure to leave yourself a little time each day to make up for the loss of today!
  • Sometimes I take a walk outside – some fresh air and exercise sometimes makes the day less of a pain.
  • Get in a super comfy outfit, make your favorite drink, get lost on your favorite website.

  • A little progress is better than nothing at all – find the easiest thing on your list to do and do that ONE thing and be proud of yourself!
  • The best thing for me to do is to not talk to anyone about my bad day – the more I talk about it the more mad I get!
  • Catch up on DVR‘d shows, Netflix, or get lost in a good book!

Hopefully this helps you get out of your slump and helps me too 😉

I am Ricci Harvey, I have a wonderful, amazing, handsome, helpful husband and a beautiful daughter. I am very blessed in my life with the family and relationships I have. I love everything about photography and I love seeing other people‘s work. (I try not to get jealous haha) I love seeing the artistic nature of things and capturing things that make me feel good and happy. I also love to help people see the beauty in themselves.

What got you interested in photography?

I’ve always had a natural eye for what looks good. When I was a junior in high school I took a picture of my niece at her two year birthday party and it was really good. I won a school district photography contest with it, and that gave me the confidence to move forward with it. I’ve loved it ever since!

What has been your favorite picture to take and why?

Quite a few of a senior session I did with my cousin Megan recently. She’s just so photogenic and we had a great location down the street from our grandpa’s house in Monticello, UT in the wheat fields. Everything was perfect!

What’s the secret behind your etsy name?

Really, I’m just dumb. I got on specifically to buy some headbands for my daughter, then I thought, I wonder if I could sell anything on here. So I got stuck with my name. If I could do it over I would have chosen something different. The name is RicciLi which is my whole first name. (Ricky-Lee)

If you could open up a shop in your town what would you call it and what would it be like?

I would love to open a studio, it would be named after me, seeing as my photography business is already named that. Photography by Ricci Harvey. It’s easily not taken by anyone else. 🙂

What is the most challenging thing you have photographed?

Children! and even worse, big families with lots of children! Don’t get me wrong, I love photographing children, it’s actually what I do most of but it is very challenging as they don’t really know what you’re asking of them, and the mood swings and all. You have to get your shot quick, and the session has to go quick before they are just done.

What are some of your goals you hope to achieve within the next year?

My biggest goal right now is that I want to have my own studio outside of my home, in an industrial area. Within the next year, I really just want to have a solid clientele base, I am not from Colorado so no one really knows me.

What inspires you to take pictures?

Beauty! Anything that is beautiful or comical makes me want to take pictures. It makes me feel good to be around beautiful things/people. So I like to try to capture that. I love doing beauty shoots. I love helping people realize how beautiful they really are!

What is your best quality when it comes to your photography?
I would have to say composition and posing. I am not very technical but I feel like I have an eye for what looks nice, and comfortable.

If you could have one thing to help your etsy store what would it be?

I wish I had more landscape photography so that the things I did would be more in demand. I do a lot of LDS temple prints right now because I felt like that would sell the best, but I hope to get more landscape up soon.

If you haven’t already, go check out here store! RicciLi
