Asking for Help

25 Jun

Asking for help has never been a strong suit of mine! I always hate feeling like I am putting a person in a position they don’t want to be in or making them uncomfortable because I am one of those people that easily get’s that way!

Being a blogger has given me a chance to express myself in a way I never thought was possible – due to the fact that I am insecure in so many ways. My etsy shop has given me the confidence that I can provide for my family doing what I love. Friends & Family have been so encouraging and uplifting when I feel like things are falling apart.

"Be strong enough to stand alone, smart enough to know when you need help, & brave enough to ask for it." - Unknown #quotes

So here I am to encourage the rest of you who feel like I do to ask for help if you need it! I’ve spent the past few years of my life asking for more help than I ever thought. I couldn’t be here today without all the help I’ve gotten and although most of it is from very close family and friends, it’s still important to gain the courage to take a leap of faith and put your heart on the line.

You’d be surprised at how many people are willing to support you achieve your goals.

Emma Talks

17 Sep

Here are some of the cute things our little Emma has been saying these days since starting school:

“I’m just going to try to tie this bow for you real quick!” It didn’t quite work out but she looked so cute trying!!

“Daddy, if you need help with your video games, just ask!” Love that school is teaching her to ask for help – but it’s a little amusing that she is trying to help daddy ๐Ÿ˜‰

“I think today is the day I am going to go play with my friends. Mommy do I play with my friends today?” School isn’t about learning – it’s totally about playing with friends!!

“Today I made a watercolor creation! Would you like to make one with me next time Mommy?” Of course I would sweet heart!

“Mommy, my friends were all playing on the swings, do I get a turn next time?” Yes! We are taking turns!!

Here she is taking turns with daddy playing an ipad game ๐Ÿ˜›

I’m so excited to see what else she learns ๐Ÿ™‚

Christmas At 3

1 Jan

This year Emma had 5 different Christmases!! That’s what happens when you have a huge family and you live close to all of them ๐Ÿ™‚ We actually missed out on one family Christmas this year so there could have been six! Whew. So instead of splitting them all up into different posts I’ll just give you the quick peak at a few of them.

005

Little miss too excited to wait two minutes for me to get a pick before she saw all the presents! She was so excited!

018

This year we let her play with each toy after she opened it. Needless to say it took from 9am-4pm the first day!

By Round 3 of Christmas she was aย professionalย at opening presents!

Brian and I enjoying watching her open presents instead of having to help her like last year ๐Ÿ˜‰

Chick Fil A treats for Christmas this year! I had to share mine of course ๐Ÿ˜‰

We had a blast finding the perfect one!

Usually we get Hot Chocolate or Caramel Apple Cider while we are Christmas Tree shopping but this year it was nice and warm!! I think Emma enjoyed the warm weather.

Do you have any tree shopping traditions? I’d love to hear them!

Pepe Le Pew!

12 Dec

20121008111600!Pepe_Le_Pew
It’s not exactly what it sounds like. I was talking to my mom the other day about how I’m not so peppy anymore and the entire time I was talking she said she couldn’t think of anything but Pepe Le Pew..

I had a moment of clarification this weekend while my high school best friend was in town. I used to be easily excited, the first person to jump up and down for joy with good news, and always smiling. I miss that person I used to be. Then I looked at my mom and said, “My peppy went le pew..”

Who knows exactly when I lost it but one thing is for sure that I’m determined to get it back! How am I going to do that? Here’s how:

  • I am going to do sweet things for my husband and child for no reason. My favorite thing to do was make others smile and surprise them in some way – so I’m going to start doing that again!!
  • Lately when something awesome happens to me I tell my husband and my mom and that’s it. Who doesn’t love good news!? So now I am going to start telling all my friends as well and have them tell me when good things happen to them. Talking about good things instead of bad things is just what we all need.
  • Spending a little more time in the morning making myself look good is something I loved. It made me feel like I could tackle the rest of the day because I was proud of myself to start out with.
  • Not feeling guilty about doing what I want to is something that started when I became a Mom. I am the kind of person who always puts everyone before myself but repeatedly Brian tells me to put myself first. He’s right – so I am going to follow through with it and do a few things for myself. I have a feeling that’s going to be a major self-esteem booster!

We all need a little Pep in our life, and a little less Pepe Le Pew ๐Ÿ˜‰

A Little White, A Lot of Color!

10 Dec

This weekend I had a high school reunion with one of my best friends! We spent the entire weekend shopping, crafting, catching up and creating a masterpiece ๐Ÿ™‚

043

This girl rocks my world! She is always up for a good time and ready to get crafty in seconds ๐Ÿ™‚ We are so much alike that it’s scary sometimes but my favorite thing about her is that she always surprises me! Just when I think I know her so well, she shocks me with more personality and drive. Catching up was way past due and I am so thankful we found the time to make it happen.
012

During our shopping trip I bought a new item for my craft show table to display my new necklaces. Nothing shows off what you make than seeing it worn and I felt like this necklace needed that. I’m excited for this new addition to my table ๐Ÿ™‚

011

We also bought a pack of 80’s glam sharpies. We love color and we decided to try a project with them! You’ll get to see the whole thing soon but for now I’ll just give you this as a sneak peak ๐Ÿ˜‰

Another sneak peak is what’s about to happen! There is going to be a huge change in my blogging life. I am now starting a blog with Leslie! We are still working on getting it set and ready – so it won’t be open until January but I am so excited I couldn’t not share!

The Underestimated Mom will still be updated but more like two – three times a week instead of almost daily. Most of my time will be spent making articles for A Charming Twist. If you are interested in keeping up with Leslie & I head on over there now or starting in January.

photo (24)

She said she was a dragon princess and ran off to play – needless to say that necklace came back with a little pizza sauce and dogย slobberย on it. I don’t think anyone will be using this necklace but her ๐Ÿ˜‰ thank goodness I made more!!

002

Now for the part about you! I’d love to see what my readers are making and what better way to get to know you than for you to comment below with a link to your blog post about what you are crafting today!? So bring it on readers!! Let’s start a crafty revolution!

Love Always,

P.S. I found this tutorial off pinterest (of course) and since she explains it WAY better than me – I’ll just let you run off to her site and check it out if you are interested in trying to make a necklace like this: Tampa Bay Crochet
