Overwhelmed Much!?

23 Nov

Wow! There is so much happening over in this household and I can’t wait to share all the little details with you. Everyone knows this time of year seems to be the busiest but I don’t want to that to stop me from keeping this blog going! I’m determined to squeeze in some time for you all!

For those of you who don’t know, Emma started pre-school this year!

Photo: She is growing up so fast!!

She is enjoying going to school and see all of her new friends! Today we are going to one of their birthday parties! Emma was helping me wrap the presents this morning and so excited she asked me if tomorrow was her birthday ๐Ÿ˜›

I’m really enjoying all the stories she brings home from school and how much they are offering her in class:

“At school today, I made you a beautiful picture and played with the number board! Do you want to count to 100 with me!?” – Emma

One of my favorite things she’s learning is which days of the week we do certain things. Since she only goes to school three days a week, she is constantly asking me which day it is and which day is tomorrow. We are working on getting together a weekday calendar for her to put stickers on so she knows what’s going on in the week and which day it is! We found this cool idea from Snob Essentials.

Well that’s it for today since we have to run to a birthday party! But I can’t wait to catch you up on all the news!

Love Always,

Jennifer

We had a blast finding the perfect one!

Usually we get Hot Chocolate or Caramel Apple Cider while we are Christmas Tree shopping but this year it was nice and warm!! I think Emma enjoyed the warm weather.

Do you have any tree shopping traditions? I’d love to hear them!

Unexpected Storage

28 Nov

This week I was rearranging my kitchen and cleaning it out of things we don’t use anymore. Is it just me – or do I do this about every three months or so? Anywho, I came across this container of popcorn that we got – minus the popcorn that is. I can’t believe that I held on to for a while because I liked the way it looked – but I’m so glad I did ๐Ÿ™‚

I never had a purpose for it or really a reason to keep it but I love how pretty and shiny it is! Even better now that it’s winter time again so it goes along with the theme of the weather ๐Ÿ™‚ After looking around the house for a while I decided where I wanted to put it.

Most of the time when I’m finding a home for a new place I like to replace it with someone older that isn’t serving it’s purpose anymore, or could use a little TLC. I found just the spot I needed to fix!

My yarn basket gets pulled out every time I’m doing a few projects at once. Since I have show coming up on the 15th, I have been multi-tasking with my list of things to finish up. This basket is obviously getting a little too much love because it’s overflowing and not so pretty anymore!

I decided I could easily fit my yarn in the new bucket with no problem. After filling it up I realized I had extra room on the top to put whatever current project I’m working on and still close the lid! Extra space is definitely key for me to keep things organized. If I limit myself – mess happens fast!

Then I put it right where I do my crocheting, next to the couch but enough out of the way that it isn’t bombarding my space. So while it looks like a decorative tin of goodies – it’s really my project stash of goodies!

I love free ways to store items!
Thanks for stopping by!

Holiday Weekend Fun :)

26 Nov

Emma had a blast this thanksgiving weekend. Thursday we went over to see the North side of the family and Emma got to play football with her cousins and color with Dodo:

All that good food and playing led to this on the way home:

One zonked out child ๐Ÿ˜‰ It was only a matter of minutes when we got her in the seat to get to this state!

Friday we had thanksgiving with the Durhams where Emma got to play with Tyler:

They are like two peas in a pod! Playing ball, building lego houses, puzzles, and chasing each other through the house. I have a feeling these two are going to enjoy growing up together.

Saturday we spent the day at Josh & Sarah’s house dog sitting. Emma spent a majority of the day building “sand castles with slides”:

and pretending to be a princess with the new necklace that mommy made:

Sunday was Papa’s birthday! So Emma went to Nana and Dodo’s house to play while the grown up went out to the movies and dinner.

This was on family filled holiday weekend! I hope your weekend was just as entertaining ๐Ÿ™‚

Love Always,

J

Happy Thanksgiving!

22 Nov

This year for Thanksgiving – we are spending time in Front Royal with Brian’s side of the family. We do it potluck style where we each bring ย something, we catch up, watch the game (I married into a Redskins family), and eat!! I can picture it now – the men in their jersey’s hanging out in front of the TV, the women talking about life, and Emma running around like she’s been eating sugar for weeks ๐Ÿ˜‰

So while that image entertains you (hopefully as much as it entertains me) here’s a list of things I am thankful for this year:

My loving family.

The ability to do what I love each day.

That even though sometimes we are stressed out and trying to make things work around here – that we are able to do it and we make it through all the hard times together.

I know that there is WAY more to be thankful of but right now, those are the most important for me ๐Ÿ™‚
What are you thankful for this year?

Love Always,

J

Our Little Family.

21 Nov

It’s not often that the three of us go out together. If we are all home then usually one person stays with Emma and the other will run errands or one of us will take Emma out while the other stays home. Since a majority of the time Brian and I are both working there isn’t much time that we have together that overlaps and when we do we like to spend it together being lazy and enjoying each other’s company.

My schedule this year has picked up and we’ve been working a majority of four days a week instead of three – which I am not complaining about all! I love providing child care and watching the girls play together. Brian’s schedule is a normal Monday – Friday schedule but he has most Tuesdays off.

Almost every Tuesday I dedicate to running errands, getting groceries, and getting ready for the next week. I like to do all those things during the week because it’s so crowded on the weekends so it’s much more relaxing to go while everyone else is busy. Saturday’s and Sunday’s are when I get to work in the studio or we have family events. It’s a rare occasion around here when we don’t have at least one thing to do on the weekend.

Thanks to thanksgiving break this week and last Tuesday doing 99% of my errands for two weeks – this Tuesday was going to be an easy day. I only had one errand to run and we were all going out as a family together ๐Ÿ™‚ Since this doesn’t happen often I like to soak it up and enjoy it!

I spent the morning getting ready, doing my hair and make up (which hardly happens), getting Emma ready, and cleaning up the house so we’d come home to no chores. Once we were all in the car I snapped a picture of Emma:

I think she was pretty excited about going out with both of us. We went to Harris Teeter to pick up rolls for Thanksgiving and a few other things. Watching Brian push her in the cart and chat with her was adorable! I don’t know what it is about men and their children but it makes my heart melt!

After wiping one Harris Teeter out of rolls we realized we needed to make another stop at a different Harris Teeter. Emma found it amusing that we were going to another grocery store!

It wasn’t much but I loved it.

A Fun Filled Weekend!

12 Nov

This weekend was full of surprises and accomplishments! Saturday I spent the day in Front Royal celebrating my cousin-in-law’s baby shower. She looked gorgeous, the party was a blast, and she got so many awesome goodies!!

When I got home I had a little present waiting for me from my sister from Kritter’s Ramblings:

She ordered us the Young House Love book for the book signing we are going to! I AM SO EXCITED ๐Ÿ™‚ This is one of my favorite blogs and I’m so impressed with how far they’ve come. (A little jealous too ๐Ÿ˜‰ haha!)

Sunday we spent celebrating Brian’s birthday. The boys went to see Skyfall and the girls went to see Pitch Perfect (which was HILARIOUS!), then we went to Buffalo Wild Wings for dinner. That place seems to be a family choice when the eight of us go out. After that we came back to our place for brownies and cookies for desert.

As soon as everyone left Brian was so excited to play with his big birthday present:

We rigged up a system of tables and chairs for him to play with it, which made him want the chair to go with the driving set even more. I’m not looking forward to storing that sucker but I know he’ll get his use out of it so I’m biting myย tongueย ๐Ÿ˜›

Surprisingly with all the things we had going on this weekend I got a lot accomplished too! I made a bunch of new cozies to list in my shop:

Loving all the color options that would be great for Thanksgiving dinner tables ๐Ÿ™‚

I also started on making some boot cuffs:

It’s almost done and then I have to make a matching partner ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m excited to pass these around to my friends andย familyย to try them out and let me know what they like and don’t like about them.

On top of all that I’ll be starting to sell some of my cousins newborn hats in my shop! She’ll be sending me her creations soon – check out some of her goodies:

How cute are they!?

What a weekend! I hope you all had an eventful weekend as well.

Love Always,

J

Trick or Treating Round 2!

3 Nov

Since Emma did so well trick or treating at the church event – we decided to give it a go around our neighborhood!

This time was a little different – she had Daddy to share it with ๐Ÿ™‚

After each door she’d say, “Daddy! Can we do one more!?”

We live in a smallย neighborhoodย with only a few kids, so Brian and I were expecting only a couple of houses to be passing out candy. Turns out only a few weren’t! She came home loaded with candy – we’ll be set for years (since I only let her have one a day!)

Thanks for stopping by!

Love Always,

J

Shopping Shopping Shopping!

12 Oct

I’ve been shopping up a storm for the craft show coming up and I thought I’d share with you all the things I’ve bought this week!

I bought this jewelry holder at Bed Bath & Beyond for $15! I’ll be using these to hold the crocheted bracelets I make at the craft show.

We found these little easels at JoAnns for $1.99 so I picked up a few to display my frames on.

I bought a few more wreaths for my yarn wreaths! Since I have a little extra time I thought I’d make a few more. These are $4.99 at JoAnns.

These key chains and screw eyes are to make more cork key chains with. The key chains are $2.99 each at JoAnns and the screw eyes are $6.99 each at Home Depot.

If you remember from my post about my craft table set up – I said I was going to fix the hangers so that they were angled more forward. These little dots are going to keep the hangers at an angle so they’ll face forward instead of in a line. These were $3.99 at Target!

I also bought some Command Hooks. These are going to go on the lattice behind the second table to hang the book wreaths and extra frames.

Today I’m making an order for more yarn and trying to find fabric for a new tablecloth for my tables!

Phew – this girl has done too much shopping! But the good news is I am almost all set for the craft show ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m so excited I can barely contain myself!

Thanks for stopping by!

Love Always,

J

Cork Preview

29 Sep

So I’ve been looking up fun things to do with corks and got a start on them yesterday. Thought I’d share them with you today ๐Ÿ™‚

A cork wreath! I still haven’t mastered how I’m going to finish this but it was fun to finally get started on it ๐Ÿ™‚ Brian thinks I should color or spray paint the corks when I’m done to give it a little color boost – he thinks the cork color is boring. I could definitely see these being cute if they were green and red or maybe even blue just for kicks and giggles.

This is a cork Christmas tree ornament ๐Ÿ™‚ This too is going to get some color to spice it up a little!!

I really liked how this one turned out so I might be making a few more! What do you think?

I have a list of other cute ideas I’d love to try and since I have a ridiculous amount of corks – this could get interesting ๐Ÿ˜‰

Thanks for stopping by!
Love Always,

J
