Mini Meals

24 Jun

Today I made Emma a grilled cheese sandwich for lunch. She has like five favorite lunch meals that we tend to rotate through and I try to throw in something different each time. It’s been hard to come up with new lunch ideas when I don’t want to make an ENTIRE meal and her not eat it and then I’m stuck with the leftovers..

An idea popped into my head. Meals for one – better yet mini meals!

Although these look great – they still make a bunch! What I was really looking for was recipies that create a nice meal for one!

So I’m going to attempt to take a couple meals and create a recipes for one! I’ll be posting it here with the ingredients and instructions and Emma’s taste test approval ๐Ÿ˜‰

This will be exciting!!

Got any recipes you think would be perfect for this project? Please let me know below!

Thanks!

ย

We bought our FIRST house! ย โค So we can mark that of the 30 before 30 list!

If you want to see the house tours the are here, here, and here! Yes there are three or else they would have been huge posts!

If you hadn’t noticed I’ve been blogging over here at A Charming Twist with my friend Leslie:

ย

ย

I decided to start writing with Leslie as a way for us to keep in touch, share my DIY & Craft obsession with her and as a way to keep this blog more family related. So from now on you’ll see posts about my life, Emma, and things we are doing as a family! ย Sure there will be the occasional DIY post because – let’s be honest – I can’t help myself ๐Ÿ˜‰

If you love my DIY and organizing posts please be sure to follow us at A Charming Twist so you don’t miss out those goodies.

And just because I can’t help myself – here’s what Emma’s been up to these days:

ย

Trying out Mom & Dad’s new bed.

Helping Mommy set up her new craft room / office space!

Attempting the piano (she’s actually pretty good!)

Cuddling with Mommy on the new couch watching the NEW TV!

Taking baby for walks in our new neighborhood!

Enjoying some sun on the deck!

Passing out in her new bed after a long hard day of play!

Trying out new restaurants!!

Walking in the rain with her monkey umbrellie ๐Ÿ™‚

Being Mommy’s big helper on shopping trips!

ย

Doing big girl things like puzzles!

Playing in every room of the house!

ย

and of course being as cute as possible ๐Ÿ™‚ย

ย

We are so happy to be back and we hope you enjoy following our lives here and our crafts at A Charming Twist!

Spinning Out of Control!

23 Jan

Is it obvious that I have been preoccupied with other things?!

I hope you didn’t think I was gone for good ๐Ÿ™‚

Just sleeping when I got the chance instead of typing ๐Ÿ˜›

So what’s my cause for all this crazy silence?

Well one reason is I’ve been blogging over here at A Charming Twist! One of my amazing friends and I started a blog together to talk about crafts, fashion, home decor, food, and life! It’s been so much fun posting with her!

acharmingtwist

On my day off during the week I’d usually come up with my posts and do a few projects. These days I’ve been helping out a company I used to work for before my stay-at-home mom days! They needed an extra hand and when it comes to organizing things I can resist ๐Ÿ˜‰

photo (29)

Another reason is I’m attempting one of my 30 before 30 goals! I’m taking Art Classes!! It’s been super exciting and I’ll share all the details about it later but it’s so nice to be accomplishing goals ๐Ÿ™‚

Artschool

Along with those I’ve been picking up shifts and taking the girls out to keep from getting cabin fever! We’ve been traveling to the mall and indoor playground to keep them active, get a little fresh air, and have new experiences. Our local mall has a train that the kids can ride around the mall and a merry-go-round!

merry-go-round

This has also lead us in eating out which I love! Going out to eat with these girls is twice as muchย fun as taken them places meant for them -these girls love people watching, aren’t picky eaters, and love to hold a conversation ๐Ÿ˜‰

Even though it’s been crazy busy around here I haven’t forgotten about you all! I have a ton of ideas to keep you entertained and hope to be getting back on track whether my schedule is packed or not ๐Ÿ˜‰

What have you all been up to? I’d love to hear!

Love Always,

Wasted Space Not So Wasted Anymore!

8 Jan

Emma’s closet has been only used for storage since she was born. We have a big chest of drawers for her and since her clothes are so tiny I would just fold them up and put them in there. We also had the changing table drawers for sheets and blankets so there was really never a need to hang up her clothes.

037

This resulted in using the closet to put things she wasn’t using in! For a while I’ve wanted to do something differently and I finally got the kick in the butt to change things up around here ๐Ÿ™‚

038

Emma’s closet has this nook inside of it that I’ve been dying to make a little reading spot out of! So while I was giving the closet a useful makeover I decided to make this part a little place to hide out for Emma.

060

On one side she has her spot to sit and read with her books.

056

The other side is her stuffed animal pile and puzzles on top of the shelf. Sometimes she’ll crawl into the pile of animals and hide out!

054

The rest of her closet got organized and is finally be used for it’s main purpose!! For the past few mornings she’s had a blast picking out her outfits not that she can see them all!

050

When it gets quiet around here I know just where to find her!

Now I need to make a special spot for me to go hide and get things done ๐Ÿ˜‰ I wonder if Emma would let me work on my blogging in my closet?

Love Always,

J

Christmas At 3

1 Jan

This year Emma had 5 different Christmases!! That’s what happens when you have a huge family and you live close to all of them ๐Ÿ™‚ We actually missed out on one family Christmas this year so there could have been six! Whew. So instead of splitting them all up into different posts I’ll just give you the quick peak at a few of them.

005

Little miss too excited to wait two minutes for me to get a pick before she saw all the presents! She was so excited!

018

This year we let her play with each toy after she opened it. Needless to say it took from 9am-4pm the first day!

033

Emma’s dressy outfit ๐Ÿ™‚

035

By Round 3 of Christmas she was aย professionalย at opening presents!

031

Brian and I enjoying watching her open presents instead of having to help her like last year ๐Ÿ˜‰

030

Chick Fil A treats for Christmas this year! I had to share mine of course ๐Ÿ˜‰

026

A beautiful mist of snow just in time for Christmas this year.

024

Now it’s time to say goodbye to December and hello to the new year!

I hope you all had wonderful holiday’s this year and I am looking forward to a new year of blogging here! What are you looking forward to this year?

What Are You Doing!?

14 Dec

Today I am doing finishing touches to make sure I’m all prepped for my show tomorrow!

photo (27)

These are pieces of wood I spray painted with chalkboard paint to make price signs for the show. I love how bright they are and how they stand out. I also love that I don’t have to tag price EACH item I’ve made. I’ve tried many different ways to tag price my items and realized that all of them take WAY to long and I could have made more items for my show instead of wasting time tagging each and every single thing.

il_fullxfull.256405979

These are the kinds of tags I was trying to use. I had to write out each tag and use string to tie to each item. It was exhausting and frustrating. Another kind i used were sticky price tags which I hated. They either leave sticky messes on your items or they fall off and are nowhere to be found which result in a, “how much is this!?”

After going through all that I realized I didn’t mind people asking me how much things were. It actually seemed to be the conversation starter and gave me a chance to explain the process of making my items and that I do custom orders as well. After that I tried to come up with a different way to price my items – which resulted in the chalkboard paint boards. Now my prices are easy to be seen but if someone really wanted to talk to me or ask me my prices I was ready and available ๐Ÿ™‚

What are you working on today? Leave a comment and let me know or share a link to show me what you are doing!

Pepe Le Pew!

12 Dec

20121008111600!Pepe_Le_Pew
It’s not exactly what it sounds like. I was talking to my mom the other day about how I’m not so peppy anymore and the entire time I was talking she said she couldn’t think of anything but Pepe Le Pew..

I had a moment of clarification this weekend while my high school best friend was in town. I used to be easily excited, the first person to jump up and down for joy with good news, and always smiling. I miss that person I used to be. Then I looked at my mom and said, “My peppy went le pew..”

Who knows exactly when I lost it but one thing is for sure that I’m determined to get it back! How am I going to do that? Here’s how:

  • I am going to do sweet things for my husband and child for no reason. My favorite thing to do was make others smile and surprise them in some way – so I’m going to start doing that again!!
  • Lately when something awesome happens to me I tell my husband and my mom and that’s it. Who doesn’t love good news!? So now I am going to start telling all my friends as well and have them tell me when good things happen to them. Talking about good things instead of bad things is just what we all need.
  • Spending a little more time in the morning making myself look good is something I loved. It made me feel like I could tackle the rest of the day because I was proud of myself to start out with.
  • Not feeling guilty about doing what I want to is something that started when I became a Mom. I am the kind of person who always puts everyone before myself but repeatedly Brian tells me to put myself first. He’s right – so I am going to follow through with it and do a few things for myself. I have a feeling that’s going to be a major self-esteem booster!

We all need a little Pep in our life, and a little less Pepe Le Pew ๐Ÿ˜‰

A Little White, A Lot of Color!

10 Dec

This weekend I had a high school reunion with one of my best friends! We spent the entire weekend shopping, crafting, catching up and creating a masterpiece ๐Ÿ™‚

043

This girl rocks my world! She is always up for a good time and ready to get crafty in seconds ๐Ÿ™‚ We are so much alike that it’s scary sometimes but my favorite thing about her is that she always surprises me! Just when I think I know her so well, she shocks me with more personality and drive. Catching up was way past due and I am so thankful we found the time to make it happen.
012

During our shopping trip I bought a new item for my craft show table to display my new necklaces. Nothing shows off what you make than seeing it worn and I felt like this necklace needed that. I’m excited for this new addition to my table ๐Ÿ™‚

011

We also bought a pack of 80’s glam sharpies. We love color and we decided to try a project with them! You’ll get to see the whole thing soon but for now I’ll just give you this as a sneak peak ๐Ÿ˜‰

screenshot

Another sneak peak is what’s about to happen! There is going to be a huge change in my blogging life. I am now starting a blog with Leslie! We are still working on getting it set and ready – so it won’t be open until January but I am so excited I couldn’t not share!

The Underestimated Mom will still be updated but more like two – three times a week instead of almost daily. Most of my time will be spent making articles for A Charming Twist. If you are interested in keeping up with Leslie & I head on over there now or starting in January.

Lot’s of fun new things going on!

Hope you are as excited as I am ๐Ÿ˜‰

001

So today I’m making crocheted necklaces. You might have seen the sneak peak of Emma sporting my first attempt:

photo (24)

She said she was a dragon princess and ran off to play – needless to say that necklace came back with a little pizza sauce and dogย slobberย on it. I don’t think anyone will be using this necklace but her ๐Ÿ˜‰ thank goodness I made more!!

002

Now for the part about you! I’d love to see what my readers are making and what better way to get to know you than for you to comment below with a link to your blog post about what you are crafting today!? So bring it on readers!! Let’s start a crafty revolution!

Love Always,

J

P.S. I found this tutorial off pinterest (of course) and since she explains it WAY better than me – I’ll just let you run off to her site and check it out if you are interested in trying to make a necklace like this: Tampa Bay Crochet
