A New Set Up

16 Oct

My studio room has been needing a new set up for quite some time but I never got around to figuring out a plan. What I needed was to get rid of that big square table and find a skinnier one to take it’s place. Once the table was out – rearranging the space was SO much easier!

I can’t tell you how much this frees up the floor space in this room. With the ironing board able to fold up and be against the wall and the small 4×2 table folded up – it gives me even more floor space. I love being here but one of the most difficult things about it is working up here with Emma. There are some days where I just chose not to come here because I’d rather spend time with her but other times I have her with me and try to get as much work done as I can.

Now that there is more floor space for her she can easily play with her toys and not be right at my feet. I also love the fact that I can set her up at the second table and let her color and play there. She loves to imitate me these days so I can just picture her pretending to sew or paint 😉 I’m going to give it a for the next few weeks and see how it goes!

One of the things I am most excited about is my new mini shelf on my desk! This is the third one that I purchased that isn’t going with me to the show. As you can see it’s already over-flowing with goodies so after the show I will be definitely using at least one of these to store things in when I’m in-between shows.

Is it just me or do other people rearrange their spaces every couple months?

Thanks for stopping by!

Give Me Some Space Please <3

29 Mar

One of the things that I’ve been trying to do these past few months is work in an area with limited space! I’ve spent months after months setting up the ironing board, pulling out tubs from storage with fabric, clearing off as much table top spaces as I can find, and attempting to make projects that take hours and finish it in a two-hour timeline so that I can pack it all up, put everything back, and make it look like I was never there. After a while that’s exhausting. It’s especially frustrating when you don’t get to finish the project but you know you’ve got to pack it up anyways.

For a few weeks now I’ve been trying to figure out a solution. I’ve been dreaming about magically making an extra bedroom appear out of thin air in this apartment!! Finally, my husband and I came up with a solution. We’d figure out how much money I could put into studio space without paying so much that I only broke even.

Problem.

Solved.

I now have a studio to make all my projects in. I never have to set up and break down an entire studio within a two-hour window! I can leave my projects half-finished, close the door, and get back to it when I can! I don’t have to worry about waking up my daughter while I’m trying to sew during nap time! I have set hours to get work done without interruptions. I am on my way to being a successful small business!

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’ll show you the pictures of my awesome space tomorrow 🙂 because right now I’m so exhausted from moving in, my body can barely handle it!

Thanks for stopping by!

Something old into Something New

9 Jan

I promised myself after having dinner with B last night that I would spend today crafting 🙂 and that’s just what I did!! I started around 10:00 a.m. with a few diaper changing stops, a lunch break, and little (E) interruptions 😛 and ended around 6:00. Even though it’s not completely finished, it’s at least a shirt!!! So stay tuned for some updates because this is going to be a fun one!

I took an old T-shirt

Deconstructed it

Ironed it

Cut out the pattern

Cut out the fabric with the pattern

Biased the tops (which I will never do again .. Bias and I don’t get along :P)

Sewed the front and back together

Sewed the sleeves on

Then finished the sides 🙂 and put it on E for fun! I know it’s two sizes to big but she’ll grow into it eventually! I plan on using my cool new sewing machine to sew in designs and patters and using my new cricut cutter to make a monogram for it! Exciting!!

Love Always,

J
