Pure Joy

7 Oct

We went to Cox Farms yesterday and I think it opened Emma’s eyes to a whole new world! There were slides and playgrounds and so many things to climb on! It was a gorgeous day and if you live in Northern Virginia I highly recommend letting your child go wild here. Even though there were a million things to do this is what Emma enjoyed this the most:

I love that smile ๐Ÿ™‚

Here are some other pictures from the day:

Emma and Tyler hugging ๐Ÿ™‚

Checking out all the animals on the farm!

Emma loved the big pink truck! I’ll have to remember that when she gets older ๐Ÿ˜‰

Tyler and Emma holding hands!

Checking out the view from the top of the ship!

Emma sticking her butt out while she hugs the bunny ๐Ÿ˜› I have no idea why she hugs like this!

Sitting on the caboose of the train!

Oink Oink! Emma’s a pig ๐Ÿ™‚

Going on the hayride! Emma does not like loud moving tractors but somehow we got on the hayride without a fuss! โค

I’m pretty sure she had a blast ๐Ÿ™‚

Sick Day :(

1 Oct

Today is a sick day ๐Ÿ˜ฆ Emma and I have a viral infection that’s going around so today we’ll be cleaning the entire house and resting up. We’ll also be watching the cars movie because Emma is crazy in love with Lightening McQueen ๐Ÿ™‚

So here’s some music from the movie to keep you entertained since we aren’t that entertaining today ๐Ÿ˜‰

Love Always,

J

Taking it Easy Today!

27 Sep

I have two little girls here today and we are going to be taking it easy! Most days we spend half the day inside and half the day outside but since the weather is going to keep us from going out – I decided to take a practice day of keeping them entertained inside!

Since they are 2 and 3, their attention span is about 30 minutes. Here’s our usual schedule for a day that includes outdoor time:

8:30-9:00 Excitement to see each other which involves, hugs, kisses, chasing each other, and showing each other toys. Then they’ll usually “help” me get breakfast ready.

9:00-9:30 Breakfast time!

9:30-10:00 Free play time in the house.

10:30-11:00 We go for a walk.

11:00-11:30 Color or Play-Doh

11:30-12:00 They help me make lunch

OR

10:30-11:30 Park Time

11:30-12:00 They help me make lunch

12:00 Lunch

12:30-1:00 Quiet Time

1:00 -4:00 Nap Time

4:00 – 4:15 Snack

4:15 – 5:00 Puzzles, Reading Time, or Blocks usually.

So what I’ll need to do is find an indoor activity to keep us busy from 10:30-11:00. Some days we’ll bundle up and play out on the back patio but for those really cold or yucky days I wanted a few options to keep us entertained.

Today we are going to try music time. I’ve got a bunch of musical toys ready and I’m hoping it will include lots of dancing and giggling to get out all their energy!

Do you have any great ideas you’d love to share?

Thanks for stopping by.

Love Always,

J

Let’s Hear It For Some Change!!

21 Sep

Welcome to my typical night!

It usually involves me with the computer – working on my etsy shop, blogging, emailing, or reading other blogs. I’m almost always also crocheting something. Whether it’s a scarf or blanket, I like to keep my fingers busy!

A lot of things happened this weekend that weren’t exactly blog post worthy so I thought I’d combined them all into one! This week I finished three scarves, picked up my dress for a wedding I’m in, worked/played with the girls, organized the next few house projects I’ll be doing, but most importantly – I hit my inventory list goal for the huge craft show I’m doing this year!!! โค

So let’s all do a happy dance!!!

Okay – now that I got that out of the way I can explain a few things that are going to be coming up these next few weeks.

1. Home projects! Now that I’m not cooped up in my studio or working my little tail off – I now have time to do some projects around this place. Brian and I have a few that we are excited to do! We are making a pallet garden together for our patio outside, we are painting our living room (still choosing paint colors), and putting up a backsplash in our kitchen (finally)!!

2. New crafty projects! Again – goodbye doing the same things every weekend just to stock up. I can now work on some fun new projects that will have nothing to do with craft shows! Who’s excited for random projects?! I am!

3. With all this extra time – you better bet there’s going to be some purging and organizing around this house. Expect some great tips on this.

4. FREE TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There will be a lot more posts about whatever Emma and I are doing – even if it is being lazy for the day. I know you’ve missed seeing that little girl and her playful poses.

What are you excited about?

Thanks for stopping by!

Bed Sheet Headband

19 Sep

One more bedsheet project for those of you who are needing ideas for all that fabric and extra pieces!!

What can you do with the elastic edges of a bedsheet?

Oh I can think of a few things ๐Ÿ˜‰ But today I’ll just show you one of them!

I took the elastic piece and wrapped it around Emma’s head and measured it. I then pinned it and grabbed some thread. All it took was sewing the two pieces together and tada! A cute little headband for my cute little girl!

She loved it so much she decided she wanted to make one so I let her “help me” with a second one. After cutting of a small excess piece I decided I was going to make a little flower out of it and attach it to the headband. I’ll have pictures of that later ๐Ÿ˜‰

Love that little girl ๐Ÿ™‚ and her new headband!

Thanks for stopping by!

Love Always,

J

Goodbye Little Girl

1 Sep

My little girl is growing up so fast. So much so that we are now considering buying her big girl games! Brian and I were talking about things to keep her entertained on car rides as well as at night when we are laying around together as family. She usually steals my phone and plays games and watches shows on it but I’m kind of tired of sharing it!

So we’ve decided to upgrade our little girl with her own electronic device made by leapfrog – but we are trying to decide between two choices. The cheaper version: The LeapFrog Explorer:

Or the more expensive route: The LeapPad2

What we really wanted was something travel friendly, easy to carry, not many pieces to lose, and something obviously entertaining for Emma. Right now we are leaning toward the more expensive one just because it seems to offer a bit more options.

Anyone have any opinions? I’d love to see what other people think of these items!

Love Always,

J

Keeping Priorities Straight.

28 Aug

For those of you who know me outside of the blogging world – know that this past week and weekend I didn’t get a single thing accomplished! Between my sisters wedding, work, and other plans; I didn’t get much down time at all! So I hope you all aren’tย disappointedย but this weeks magazine post will be delayed! Not sure if I’ll get to it later this week or just save it for next week but I will say I am pretty excited about doing the review.

Today I’m going to talk about priorities. These days I’m having to pick and choose my battles and what really deserves my attention. It’s not easy for a person who loves to dedicate their time to everyone else – to stop and think about themselves but in this post I’m going to put every little thing aside and talk about my main priorities for a while.

Priority number one:

My little family. They are the most important in my life and as much as I’d love to add a bunch of other people to my priority list I need to stick to the ones who need me the most and that’s my husband and baby girl. (Sorry everyone else!)

Priority Number Two:

My little business which I have huge goals for. I’ve been working so hard on this part of my life but it seems like I let the slightest things hold me back. This is where a lot of my current priorities are going to change. I don’t give myself enough time to make this part of my life something that will give my family my next priority.

Priority Number Three:

I need to start looking at the future as a priority in my life rather than a dream. I love to imagine what it would be like, hope for the best, and play the what if game when it comes to my families future but it’s about time I set some things in stone here. Instead of dreaming and waiting for things to fall in line – I’m going to make it happen. This is going to be the second hardest when it comes to my time as well as my need to help everyone else. How am I suppose to support everyone else and my family if I can’t even support myself?

So now that I’ve laid out these priorities in my life I’m printing this out and putting it beside my bed to wake up every morning. I have three jobs to focus everything in me on and that’s all I’m going to focus on for as long as I can because honestly, my priorities are supposed to be what I want them to be – not what anyone else wants.

Love Always,

J

Please & Sorry

26 Aug

Please and Sorry have been major words in my vocabulary the past few days. I don’t exactly know what my problem with it is, but I have a hard time asking for help. I make myself a list full of things that are longer than the amount of hours in a day and then beat myself up about not getting them all done.

Another thing I like to do is add on tasks for other people. I hear someone say, “I need this” and I come running ready to solve the problem leaving behind my trail of things that still aren’t done yet.

This past week it really hit me hard and got me into a point of self-sabotage. My list was so long and overwhelming that I just kept putting it off and it just kept getting longer. At one point I remember sitting down on the floor with my list and computer and crap that piled up too high and cried.

I’ve noticed when I’m completely at the end of my rope the best way to deal with it is to email my husband. Knowing he’s at work and he doesn’t even get it sometimes until he gets home doesn’t matter. Sometimes he can answer me right away and it’s nice to hear what he has to say but either way – he comes home and it’s like everything wrong in the world just turns right.

He has a way of calming me down in seconds, sometimes without even saying a word. I love that man.

This time I asked for help. I cried out in an email that was probably three paragraphs longer than it needed to be (much like this post ๐Ÿ˜‰ haha) and gave him a list of things I needed him to do so I could breath again. Then I went to the next best person in the whole wide world.

My Mommy. Nobody fixes a problem like Mommy’s do. I told her what was going on and she gladly took on a few things on my list and knocked them out in seconds and asked for more. I love her so much and now I see where I get my need to do things for people from. She’d gladly do all my work for me if she could just watch me raise my baby girl. I’m going to do the same for Emma without a shadow of a doubt.

So here’s to all those people out there that are stressed, exhausted, and burnt out. Go ask for help. It may make you cry, it may feel like the world is upside down, and you may feel like a complete loser; but it will be the best thing you ever did.

Thanks for stopping by,

Love Always,

J
