Sing It Out Loud! Or At Least Write It.

22 Sep

I’ve always been a girl who loves to personalize things. Well – I did it again! I’ve been seeing people personalize their pillows with song lyrics they love – so I set out to find the perfect lyrics for my pillows πŸ™‚ It took a while and a lot of no that’s not it between Brian and I. I wanted him to be as attached to these pillows as I want to be so he had a say in what we chose.

All you need is fabric, a fabric marker (or two), a pillow, a sewing machine (or you can hand stitch with a needle & thread), and some lyrics of course!

Brian and I chose to use the lyrics from Coldplay – Yellow. We are big Coldplay fans and some of our favorite songs as much as we liked them – really didn’t work out for pillow lyrics. So if you do this project you may realize that half of them don’t really work. I like songs with a little bit of Β aΒ repetitionΒ in it, but enough words to keep you reading.

If you don’t have consistent handwriting or are afraid you want write in a straight line – try not to worry. Mine isn’t either if you look closely enough you’ll realize I write like a third grader – but if you look back up at the picture above it doesn’t look so bad! Plus it gives it a little character πŸ™‚

The rest of this how to will be posted later on. I’m excited to get the pillow sewn so you can all see the finished look of it!

What song would you love on a pillow for your room?

Thanks for stopping by!

The Piano Bar is Where it’s at!

25 Jun

What a weekend! ❀

I’ll start off with a big congrats to my sister at KrittersRamblings, who is getting married in August! This weekend we celebrated her bridal shower and bachelorette party πŸ™‚

What better way to celebrate then to go to a Piano Bar!? To be honest, I had no idea what I was in for. I’ve never been to nor heard of a piano bar before and was extremely excited! So we headed to the National Harbor:

This place is gorgeous! I’ve been there once prior to this weekend and have yet to really take it all in so I will definitely be going back πŸ™‚

When we walked into the bar and got our seats I realized this wasn’t your typical bar at all. We were right in front of the stage where the two pianos, drums, guitars, and everything else was! Then once the show started – I was amazed.

Two guys are playing the piano and singing to all different kinds of music from Journey to Pink Floyd to Lynyrd Skynyrd to Van Morrison to Foster The People to Tyga! We even got him to play and sing “Call Me Maybe” by Carly Rae Jepsen!

In order to get them to play a song you want, you write it down on a piece of paper or napkin, pull out some ones, and take them up to the piano and they’ll play anything you want as long as they know it! I was amazed, to say the least, at the amount of songs they just knew off the top of their heads and what’s even better is they have no idea what songs people are going to request!

We were one happy group of girls! Check out the guy playing the piano behind us – he’s Ronnie “Fresh” Smith and he was our favorite πŸ™‚ He was not only amazing but seriously entertaining!

So congrats to my big sis on her amazing next step in her life and to one heck of a weekend celebrating it!

Love Always,

Away from Home

22 Jan

I don’t know what it is about sleeping alone but I can go through an entire trip and be just fine until it’s time to fall asleep without my husband by my side.

I’m beat tired and in desperate need of sleep but here I am wide awake. I tried reading and listening to music but none of it is working.

You would think with the waterfall and river flowing by or the pitter patter of rain hitting the tin roof that it would lull me to sleep. Being without the one person who makes you feel so comfortable and worry free is taking a toll on me.

As much as i have loved every minute of this trip and would do it again in a heart beat I am excited to be back in his arms.

Crafts – Rock On!

27 Aug

I spent a majority of today painting & crocheting while I was waiting for the paint to dry! I must say watching paint dry is ridiculously annoying!!! Thank goodness I found something to do in-between πŸ˜‰ I started working on the giraffe frame and the guitar frame. Unfortunately only one is done due to complications – poor giraffe will have to wait! My little painting hands are tired! But I did finish the guitar! Check it out πŸ˜€

I am completely in love with this little guitar – one because it’s hott – two because I’m a guitar hero/rock band fan – three it’s so hard to find awesome things for boys and I think this would be awesome in a little boys room!

I think I’m going to do one in red and one that turquoise just to mix it up and see what it looks like!

This is going to be an expensive addiction!! I haven’t posted this on etsy yet because I’m still doing a little tweaking but I’ll let you know when I do!

And for those of you wondering what I’m crocheting – I’m practicing my own version of a cowl. It’s going to be much thinner than this one:

But I’m working on learning different crocheting techniques so I can master it and then attempt this one! It’s probably not going to look much like this one because I’m using a much smaller needle and skinner yarn but hopefully it turns out awesome! πŸ˜€

I should be able to finish this in no time – with the amount of frames & painting I’ll be doing these next couple of days – I’m going to need something to do while the paint dries πŸ˜‰

Okay – back to crafting!

Thanks everyone for stopping by!

Daily Life: Feeling Miserable

15 Jun

I know I said I was going to finish a project each day but it’s not happening today. I’m feeling miserable. Not sick miserable.. just miserable. E’s about to go down for a nap and I have about a thousand chores I’m supposed to be doing but somehow I can’t come up with the motivation to move. I feel like crawling into a little ball and just hiding from everything today.

I hope this doesn’t last long..

Crafts: A Mom’s Day Off Success Story ;)

23 Apr

Let me just start off by saying that I absolutely love my child. I really really adore her – but today ROCKED! I put aside my daily chores, put aside the cleaning nagging feeling inside, put aside electronic distractions, gave my child to her Nana, and B even got out of the house to pick up a few things and wash his car πŸ˜€

Today was a completely awesome mommy day off and I have proof to show πŸ˜‰

I’ve been dying to pull out my sewing machine so I started off with some scrap fabric I picked up and a zipper I had for another project πŸ˜› I didn’t use a pattern or really measure (very well). I just made a zipper pouch for the fun of not having to follow directions, take twenty minutes to figure out what the heck they are saying, oh and hey I didn’t even iron the fabric πŸ˜› I went all out and did it my way or the highway and I love it!! Now that I’ve finished making it, I have a better idea of an easier more flawless way to make it but who cares!? I just wanted to make SOMETHING! and I did .. so here it is πŸ˜€

I don’t know exactly what I am going to use it for yet, but who cares?! LOOK WHAT I MADE!! So proud of me πŸ˜€

After that I made some report cards for next week. Yes I would show you pictures but they aren’t that amazing. I kinda went skimpy/boring on them just because I wanted to get them done. If I get the itch to make them better after dinner I’ll see what I can do then maybe they’ll be picture worthy.

Then after that I took a lunch break! Yay two PB&J’s pleaseΒ and thank you! Then it was back to work, after I sat for a minute, and watched TV (insert guilty face). I blame B, he was lounging watching TV and I couldn’t resist.

Then back to work it was for me! I decided to use my new paint pens, yes!! I ordered some new paint pens πŸ˜€

So of course I had to use them Right Away!! Well if you saw my last monkey frame.. it was a sad disaster. I decided now that I have the colors I needed that I’d try again. Here’s how it turned out:

Much better looking monkeys if I do say so myself πŸ˜‰ Well that was way too much fun! I needed today to kick it back and just be creative and I have a feeling I’m going to have to figure out how to do this with E somehow. I’ll have to come up with some plans on keeping her distracted happy and maybe even crafty with me (as in crayons and paper crafty). Never know until you try!?

Well it’s about time to go pick munchkin up so I’ll be back later tonight!

Daily Life: Warm Breezes Through My Window

4 Apr

Today is amazing!! E is feeling a heck of a lot better. We got out and got some things done and soaked up the lovely fresh air, then we came back for lunch and nap time. E slept for about thirty minutes and decided she was ready to get back up. Then about thirty minutes later she was ready to go back down for a nap. Silly head. I got everything done that I’ve been putting off for the past few days and am feeling amazing. My windows are wide open and the warm breeze is making me the happiest mom EVER!

Another plus is my dad is out back working on the “fence” for the girls. He’s put in the stakes and built all the sections of the fence. He’s just got to nail the fence to the stakes, paint the stakes white and TADA! We are all ready to set up and play outside!! I think this new addition is going to make this summer a lot more fun and I think E and P will nap better because of it.

It’s so cute. I’ll have to take pictures and put them up here πŸ˜€

Right now I have Perpetual Groove playing and I am relaxing for a few minutes. My sister is coming to spend the night tonight before she leaves tomorrow for Las Vegas. She has a work thing to go to and the airport is a lot closer to us!! I can’t remember the last time that she saw E but it’s been quite some time so that will be fun catching up!

I am also planning on doing something seriously creative with my scarves for an AWESOME picture and to show you all the finished striped product πŸ˜› It’s been so cloudy these past few days and I wanted you to get the best quality view of all my hard work!

Guess I should go do that now πŸ˜‰

Daily Life: Weekend Away

29 Mar

This past weekend was SO much fun! B and I went to see Perpetual GrooveΒ in concert on Saturday and they were AMAZING!! They had a band called Zoogma open for them and they were awesome too. If you like background musicΒ that puts you in a good mood this is what you need. Almost everyday during nap timeΒ I turn on P-Groove and craft or do chores. It’s relaxing, fun, upbeat, easy to listen to music. Zoogma was a little more upbeat but totally cool. They might be more of a get you hyped up band but I loved it.

You should check them both out!!

It was so nice to have a weekend that didn’t involve picking up toys over, and over, and over again. As much as I missed my little E, B and I were dying for some time to ourselves. We also picked the best company!! B’s friend from work P and his friend J (yes we have the same name) were so much fun!Β  I have a feeling we’ll be doing other things with them later πŸ˜‰

So when B and I got back from our awesome trip, neither of us really sit down or take a break. We knocked out all of the cleaning, most of the laundry, and got this place ready for the girls Monday morning. Usually I am scrambling around on my own trying to do everything at once and failing miserably. This time B was right by my side with extra hands and his trademark smile πŸ™‚ I love when we work together.

Β Then Monday happened! Both girls were here and it flew by so fast! It was probably the easiest day I have had! Shocking because Monday’s are hard to begin with, plus it’s the day I have three kids at once!! The rest of this week should be just as easy. Today I plan on doing a few more spring cleaning things, some crafting (as always), and maybe even finishing Pretty Little Liars #3! Or who knows, maybe I won’t get anything done today πŸ˜‰ It is my day off after all!!

Love Always,

Daily Life: Feeling Pretty Dang Proud!

9 Feb

I know that I am all about promoting good mood and finding that one thing that just makes your day so much better. Well this week I haven’t had any hot chocolate or listened to Taylor Swift. I haven’t needed it! It seems like everyday I wake up there’s some new and exciting news that just makes my day so much better and on top of that I have been SO productive!

There’s a few new things that are still up in air for me so I unfortunately won’t be posting about them until I get further news, but one of them I will gladly share!! I signed up for this website that helps families find nannies, babysitters, day cares, etc.Β  and helps people who want to take care of children find a family in need. Well I had been sending out interest messages and hadn’t heard anything back. I was getting a little disappointed but it’s not like B and I are dying for me to make an income yet so I was trying not to rush into serious feelings. Well today I got an email back. Someone is interested and I may be adding a little addition to my daily routine!! I am SO unbelievably excited and crossing my fingers the interview and house tour goes well.

I am a pretty upfront bubbly person and many people see that right off the bat. I realize that I am shy a lot of the times, but when it comes to job interviews I have never had a problem. Maybe because when you are interviewing for a job you want them to know everything you have to offer and prove that your worth their time and their money. If you are too shy.. they’ll never know who you are and you won’t be getting a job!

I spent a majority of the day today getting the house ready for an addition. Tomorrow I am pulling out all E’s old stuff, giving it a serious sanitizing and cleaning and making it all perfect for the house tour. I want her to know that I am 100% prepared and 100% capable. I think being a mom really changes your perspective of babysitting.Β  When I worked with children in high school it seemed really easy and all I had to do was make friends with the kids and we were good to go. Being a parent isn’t just about being friends, it’s what’s in the best interest of the child, it’s being a teacher, a guidance counselor, a hand to hold, a lap to sit in, a cook, a maid, a librarian, and a diaper changing but wiping queen πŸ˜€ and I am ALL of those things and fun!!

Well anyways so that’s part of my fantastic news, the rest will come later, when the time is right. Let’s just say my life is dramatically changing and it’s going in an AMAZING direction.

Hope everyone else is feeling pretty dang proud of themselves too!!

Love Always,

Happy Birthday To ME!

2 Feb

Oh what a relaxing day it’s been and it’s only 1:15! It’s funny the difference between celebrating a birthday pre-baby and after having a baby. Birthdays become more of a day of relaxing instead of a day all about me, me, me!! I remember in college I wanted to throw a huge party with all my friends, decorations, loud music, and now all I want is to do nothing πŸ˜‰ haha. Even today, I’m not really doing much different then any other day except this morning my mom watched E while I took a nice long hot shower and some pampering time, then we went to lunch so I didn’t have to cook or clean!Β It’s amazing how nice that is πŸ˜€

Tonight I plan on relaxing some more and doing something crafty for a change! I am going to put this crocheting down for a day and do something different. Sewing, scrapbooking, painting, who knows!? I’m just excited about having some time to do something fun!!

Love Always,
