Magazine Review: Woman’s Day Specials – Halloween Celebrations

18 Sep

Who’s ready for Halloween magazines? I AM! This week I’m reviewing Woman’s Day Specials Halloween Celebrations!! This is your all around get ready for the season kind of magazines that includes, crafts, home decor, food, and some extra goodies as well. I can’t imagine you flipping through this magazine and not wanting to attempt something in this magazine – even if you hate Halloween – some of these things are worth a look!

Each page is filled with multiple ideas and and things you can try to create on your own but you can also purchase! One of my favorite things about this magazine is it tells you where they found the item, how much it is, and the website for it! Another plus – they showcase Etsy shops 🙂 I love supporting fellow etsians.

Their how-to’s are easy to read and follow and they also have extra instructions and patterns in the back! I’d say this magazine is filled with enough goodies to keep you busy up until Halloween this year 🙂 I already have a list of things I’d love to try as well as a few shops I’ll be buying from. Since this magazine isn’t completely about crafting I deducted a point for ideas & inspirations since part of it is food and that might not interest some as well as a point off for exciting pictures and fun reads because there’s less articles and more shopping.

Halloween Celebrations comes . Each magazine is $5.99 which is a fantastic deal to me. The deal for a subscription is $14.99 for two years or 1 year for $7.99. There are $10 issues a year. You can’t ask for a better deal than that!!!!

  • 4 points for ideas & inspiration
  • 5 points for easy how to and guide steps
  • 4 points for exciting pictures & fun reads
  • 5 points for the amount of issues
  • 5 points for price (5.99 for one issue)

I give this magazine 4.5 out 5 stars which I think is my highest one yet!

Thanks for stopping by!

Love Always,

J

One week away..

19 Dec

Only one more week until Christmas!! This year it is going to be a little bit chaotic but we’ll make it work somehow. We are booked for events from Christmas Eve to Monday night! I guess I should say that E is booked for events because everyone really just wants to see her 😉 It’s nice having so much family live so close by but it makes for one busy holiday season! I’ve been picking on B the whole time because almost his entire Christmas list was video games and DVD‘s and I keep telling him he’s not going to get a chance to play or watch any of them until the weekend after and he keeps ignoring me 😛 Poor guy.. he’s been in a kind of slump too because there are so many new games that I know he is dying to play and his old ones are getting .. well old. Only one more week B!!!!

I am excited to see how E reacts this Christmas since last year she had no idea what was going on! She probably still won’t know whats going on but she will know how to rip open boxes and play with toys! Silly little girl. She gets more adorable each day.. and it’s just amazing how fast she learns things! We have been trying to get past the Eh Eh Eh stage where they stand there, point to the sky, and expect you to know what Eh means and get it for me now!! We have been telling her what things are and trying to get her to say anything back. Even if it is no where close to the word it would make my day! She is somewhat getting it but she often refers to dat and ezzz. (That and Please). I realize that she is not at the age to start talking but why not go ahead and get started in that direction!?

Speaking of children and words .. you know that commercial that comes on TV (specifically the Sprout Channel) all day long!? The Your Baby Can Read commercial? I am curious to see if anyone has actually tried and, and if it worked!? I don’t know if I could keep E’s attention long enough to do this and I sure as heck don’t want to pay for it. I wonder if I could make these on my own at home? I mean all it is, is flash cards, pictures, and showing them the action.. If anyone has any feedback on this leave me a comment or send me an email!!

Well since it is the last week if Christmas it’s about time I start making my last-minute list of things I need to do! Yes I have been putting off everything and procrastinating .. time to get creative 😉

Love Always,

J
