Trick or Treating Round 2!

3 Nov

Since Emma did so well trick or treating at the church event – we decided to give it a go around our neighborhood!

This time was a little different – she had Daddy to share it with 🙂

After each door she’d say, “Daddy! Can we do one more!?”

We live in a small neighborhood with only a few kids, so Brian and I were expecting only a couple of houses to be passing out candy. Turns out only a few weren’t! She came home loaded with candy – we’ll be set for years (since I only let her have one a day!)

Thanks for stopping by!

Easy Entertainment!

1 Nov

This week I’ve been trying activities from a blog I found to entertain Emma as well as teach her independent playing. The blog that I found this from is called Mama.Papa.Bubba. She always has the most convenient cheap ways to entertain her little girl and I’ve been taking a spin trying out each one!

Today you’ll see Emma putting pipe cleaners in a strainer – here’s Mama’s post on it. All it took was some fun pipe cleaners which are a dollar at the Dollar Store and a strainer which we had on hand.

I showed her how to do one pipe cleaner and then she had a hay day doing the rest of them. After each one she said, “I did it!!”

Near the end she started getting creative and going around the sides!

We even had a celebration when she finished! In the mean time I made lunch with no “distractions or help”. Afterwards she asked if she could take it all out and do it again – um sure!!!! This lasted us an hour. All I could think of was all the things I could get done in an hour with her entertaining herself.

We will be doing this project – A LOT more 🙂

Thank you  Mama.Papa.Bubba!!

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to check out her amazing blog for more fun games that you probably have lying around your house 😉

Trunk or Treat!!!!

29 Oct

Emma had her first trick or treating event this year. My mother-in-law’s church was holding an event where they decorate the trunks of their cars and pass out candy to the little ones. Since it’s yucky with the storm coming they decided to hold it inside and go room to room instead. We practiced Emma saying “Trick or Treat”, holding out her bag, and saying thank you after. She caught on real fast!!

Emma picked out her fairy costume this year –  halfway through trick or treating she then decided she was a butterfly 😛

For the most part Emma was having a blast – she loved picking up candy from the doors that weren’t scary. If it was a scary looking door she’d run up to me with her arms in the air saying, “I too scared, I too scared, up mommy!”

Then we got to Dodo and Nana’s door and we were happy as can be!

I love that little smile!

She also enjoyed picking out which candy she wanted next. I let her have two choices and she shared with the rest of us 😉

I think this was the perfect way to get her familiar with trick or treating without being too scary and since she caught on so fast I’m even considering taking her out a little on Wednesday. Let the Halloween traditions begin!!

What kind of family traditions do you do for Halloween?

Pure Joy

7 Oct

We went to Cox Farms yesterday and I think it opened Emma’s eyes to a whole new world! There were slides and playgrounds and so many things to climb on! It was a gorgeous day and if you live in Northern Virginia I highly recommend letting your child go wild here. Even though there were a million things to do this is what Emma enjoyed this the most:

I love that smile 🙂

Here are some other pictures from the day:

Emma and Tyler hugging 🙂

Checking out all the animals on the farm!

Emma loved the big pink truck! I’ll have to remember that when she gets older 😉

Tyler and Emma holding hands!

Checking out the view from the top of the ship!

Emma sticking her butt out while she hugs the bunny 😛 I have no idea why she hugs like this!

Sitting on the caboose of the train!

Oink Oink! Emma’s a pig 🙂

Best Friends Forever

Going on the hayride! Emma does not like loud moving tractors but somehow we got on the hayride without a fuss! ❤

I’m pretty sure she had a blast 🙂

Sick Day :(

1 Oct

Today is a sick day 😦 Emma and I have a viral infection that’s going around so today we’ll be cleaning the entire house and resting up. We’ll also be watching the cars movie because Emma is crazy in love with Lightening McQueen 🙂

So here’s some music from the movie to keep you entertained since we aren’t that entertaining today 😉

J

Taking it Easy Today!

27 Sep

I have two little girls here today and we are going to be taking it easy! Most days we spend half the day inside and half the day outside but since the weather is going to keep us from going out – I decided to take a practice day of keeping them entertained inside!

Since they are 2 and 3, their attention span is about 30 minutes. Here’s our usual schedule for a day that includes outdoor time:

8:30-9:00 Excitement to see each other which involves, hugs, kisses, chasing each other, and showing each other toys. Then they’ll usually “help” me get breakfast ready.

9:00-9:30 Breakfast time!

9:30-10:00 Free play time in the house.

10:30-11:00 We go for a walk.

11:00-11:30 Color or Play-Doh

11:30-12:00 They help me make lunch

OR

10:30-11:30 Park Time

11:30-12:00 They help me make lunch

12:00 Lunch

12:30-1:00 Quiet Time

1:00 -4:00 Nap Time

4:00 – 4:15 Snack

4:15 – 5:00 Puzzles, Reading Time, or Blocks usually.

So what I’ll need to do is find an indoor activity to keep us busy from 10:30-11:00. Some days we’ll bundle up and play out on the back patio but for those really cold or yucky days I wanted a few options to keep us entertained.

Today we are going to try music time. I’ve got a bunch of musical toys ready and I’m hoping it will include lots of dancing and giggling to get out all their energy!

Do you have any great ideas you’d love to share?

Thanks for stopping by.

Let’s Hear It For Some Change!!

21 Sep

Welcome to my typical night!

It usually involves me with the computer – working on my etsy shop, blogging, emailing, or reading other blogs. I’m almost always also crocheting something. Whether it’s a scarf or blanket, I like to keep my fingers busy!

A lot of things happened this weekend that weren’t exactly blog post worthy so I thought I’d combined them all into one! This week I finished three scarves, picked up my dress for a wedding I’m in, worked/played with the girls, organized the next few house projects I’ll be doing, but most importantly – I hit my inventory list goal for the huge craft show I’m doing this year!!! ❤

So let’s all do a happy dance!!!

Okay – now that I got that out of the way I can explain a few things that are going to be coming up these next few weeks.

1. Home projects! Now that I’m not cooped up in my studio or working my little tail off – I now have time to do some projects around this place. Brian and I have a few that we are excited to do! We are making a pallet garden together for our patio outside, we are painting our living room (still choosing paint colors), and putting up a backsplash in our kitchen (finally)!!

2. New crafty projects! Again – goodbye doing the same things every weekend just to stock up. I can now work on some fun new projects that will have nothing to do with craft shows! Who’s excited for random projects?! I am!

3. With all this extra time – you better bet there’s going to be some purging and organizing around this house. Expect some great tips on this.

4. FREE TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There will be a lot more posts about whatever Emma and I are doing – even if it is being lazy for the day. I know you’ve missed seeing that little girl and her playful poses.

What are you excited about?

Thanks for stopping by!

Magazine Review: Woman’s Day Specials – Halloween Celebrations

18 Sep

Who’s ready for Halloween magazines? I AM! This week I’m reviewing Woman’s Day Specials Halloween Celebrations!! This is your all around get ready for the season kind of magazines that includes, crafts, home decor, food, and some extra goodies as well. I can’t imagine you flipping through this magazine and not wanting to attempt something in this magazine – even if you hate Halloween – some of these things are worth a look!

Each page is filled with multiple ideas and and things you can try to create on your own but you can also purchase! One of my favorite things about this magazine is it tells you where they found the item, how much it is, and the website for it! Another plus – they showcase Etsy shops 🙂 I love supporting fellow etsians.

Their how-to’s are easy to read and follow and they also have extra instructions and patterns in the back! I’d say this magazine is filled with enough goodies to keep you busy up until Halloween this year 🙂 I already have a list of things I’d love to try as well as a few shops I’ll be buying from. Since this magazine isn’t completely about crafting I deducted a point for ideas & inspirations since part of it is food and that might not interest some as well as a point off for exciting pictures and fun reads because there’s less articles and more shopping.

Halloween Celebrations comes . Each magazine is $5.99 which is a fantastic deal to me. The deal for a subscription is $14.99 for two years or 1 year for $7.99. There are $10 issues a year. You can’t ask for a better deal than that!!!!

  • 4 points for ideas & inspiration
  • 5 points for easy how to and guide steps
  • 4 points for exciting pictures & fun reads
  • 5 points for the amount of issues
  • 5 points for price (5.99 for one issue)

I give this magazine 4.5 out 5 stars which I think is my highest one yet!

Thanks for stopping by!

Goodbye Little Girl

1 Sep

My little girl is growing up so fast. So much so that we are now considering buying her big girl games! Brian and I were talking about things to keep her entertained on car rides as well as at night when we are laying around together as family. She usually steals my phone and plays games and watches shows on it but I’m kind of tired of sharing it!

So we’ve decided to upgrade our little girl with her own electronic device made by leapfrog – but we are trying to decide between two choices. The cheaper version: The LeapFrog Explorer:

Or the more expensive route: The LeapPad2

What we really wanted was something travel friendly, easy to carry, not many pieces to lose, and something obviously entertaining for Emma. Right now we are leaning toward the more expensive one just because it seems to offer a bit more options.

Anyone have any opinions? I’d love to see what other people think of these items!

Love Always,

J
