My Little Gymnast

11 Mar

Okay, so we have tried ballet, karate, and now we are doing gymnastics! I love the parks and recreation here because they have so many things to choose from. Each thing is about 6 weeks long so it gives the kids a good way to “feel out” different things and not spend a whole year (or a whole year’s budget) on something they may decide they don’t like anymore!

She’s the one in the front with the white leotard on! Each thing we have tried Emma has announced that she loves it and it was a great a choice. This time she came out with a huge grin on her face saying I want to do gymnastics EVERY SUNDAY!

Again she’s the one in the white leotard stretching back. I have a feeling this one will last longer than six weeks!

I’m just excited she is trying new things.

Weekend Round Up

27 Aug

It never gets old seeing Emma enjoy her weekends 🙂

IMG_5036

Brian set up his old video game system on Emma’s little TV and he was teaching her how to play some of the games 🙂 It’s amazing how fast she picks on things!

IMG_5034

They took turns playing Zelda and Mario! I have a feeling Emma is going to grow up in Daddy’s footsteps and have a love for technology! She is already crazy in love with the iPad!

IMG_5024

After some indoor fun we needed some outdoor fun! Emma had a great time making “gingerbread” men out on the sidewalk with the neighborhood kids!

IMG_5021

We had used Emma’s body as a template and she screamed, “Look Mommy! That’s me!!”

IMG_5019

Our little sports girl, I have no idea which one she will stick to but she loves baseball, basketball, soccer, golf, and football. We’ll see which one ends up being her favorite! Mommy was a softball player and Daddy played golf and tennis so she may surprise us both!

Such a happy girl! I love that she enjoys so much at this age. It’s really fun to try new things with her (minus food 😉 haha!) Speaking of food she got really lucky this weekend and went out with Papa and Ope one night and Nana and DoDo the next!!

Emma loves this place because there is so much to see and Papa loves it because it’s good southern cooking!

It’s one of the few mom and pop places around. We are looking forward to finding some more!

My football baby!

26 Apr

This little family of ours is torn between two football teams. I am a huge Steelers fan and Brian is all about the Redskins.

Emma gets the joy of sharing between us switching between cute Steelers and Redskins tees.

Today I put aside my differences and put her in a Redskins tee to root for her daddy’s team draft day!

Another Busy Day!

15 Apr

Wow! This weekend was crazy busy – but oh so much fun 🙂 We started off this morning watching Brian wash his car. There’s nothing more relaxing than sitting around watching someone else do work! Haha. Especially work that you will never be required to do 😉

Emma wasn’t having as much fun watching I was so after a while she hopped on her bike and tried to give it a spin. This is the first year we’ve gotten it out and she sits on it perfectly, knows to put her feet on the petals, get’s the motion in which the petals move, but has yet to figure out the whole pushing to make it move part. We’ve got all summer to learn 😉

After that we packed it up and decided to run a few errands. Brian and I went to our local sporting goods and bought a few things for the upcoming softball games with his company. We went in for a list of things for him and came out with an awesome new bat for me! Oh and yes the list of things for him 😉

After crushing it at the batting cages I was daydreaming of a new bat but online research told me it wasn’t happening. When we walked into the store I slowly gravitated over to the bats just to have a look and I was shocked to find out that they were 150 dollars cheaper than online!!!?? WHAT!!!??? For that price – I couldn’t resist.

Then finally after nap time I got some time to work on the itty bitty desk makeover! I didn’t get to finish everything so there will be a part two to see tomorrow but I couldn’t resist showing you what I’ve done so far!

I cut out batting and fabric to cover the seat and make it padded. My favorite part about staple gunning fabric to a seat is the fact that you can just rip it out later and change the fabric to fit the style you want it to be!

Here is a close up of the seat! The secret to keeping the shape of the heart while padding it was to pull the fabric tight in the middle of the top of the heart and stapling it there first. Then spread out the fabric and pull around the rest of it. Tomorrow you’ll see the final touches of the desk! I’m painting chalkboard paint on the top of the desk for some extra fun 😀

Don’t forget to leave a comment telling us what you think! We love to hear what you have to say!

Thanks for stopping by!

Love Always,

J

Daily Life: Just what I needed!

27 Apr

Thank you, thank you, thank you!! Today was exactly what this girl needed! A break from the chaos but still a day of getting things done!

I had P today and she came a half hour early and left a half hour later. Her daddy is out-of-town and her mom is trying to “make it work”. Poor thing!! That’s okay with me though, I’ll either get an extra hour pay or get an hour off early soon. Not to mention that little P was in a great mood all day (except for a little mishap at 3:30 where she was cussing me out in baby babbles because she was tired.. whoops! Yeap, I tried everything but nap time then realized – wait a minute, she woke up a half hour earlier during her last nap time.. duh! The child is just needs some shut-eye!)  So overall work was a fairly easy day.

I got a good walk (stroller time) with the girls this morning and walked a lot further than I usually do which means endorphins for this mommy! Yay things that put me in a good mood 😀

I spent some serious me time while both the girls napped and read until I fell asleep too! Shut eye for mommy is a double plus!

And with all that activity going on I still managed to clean the entire kitchen, get the patio cleaned up and cushions put away for the crazy storm coming, and pick up after the little mess makers! Hoorayy!!

I also got a break on dinner. B and I ordered pizza and E apparently thought that was a wonderful choice and devoured it. No cooking, no cleaning, for fixing something for baby! This is just a perfect day for me.

Now I am relaxing on the couch, watching a recorded Property Virgins (I love that show) and enjoying the warm weather and cool rain with my patio door wide open.

Tomorrow is my day off/running errands day and I am excited for that too! We are stopping by JoAnn‘s for some crafty things, Babies R Us to pick up a potty and pull ups for E, heading to Lowe’s to trade in my cushion for the right size, maybe Sam’s to pick up some bulk things, then the grocery store. Hooray for food in the house!! It’ll be nice to have choices again instead of scrambling to find what we have left..

A couple other pluses – B is going golfing this weekend, and next week will be starting practicing tennis for a tournament with the guys in our country club! He hasn’t played in a while but I know he really misses it so it’ll be exciting to see him doing something he loves.

Saturday I might be going to an author signing at One More Page Books for Amy Brecount White who wrote the book Forget-Her-Nots.

There’s a lot to look forward to and maybe even some craftiness!

Hope you have a wonderful week and weekend with your family too!

Love Always,

J

Day 3 – Keeping it Crafty ;)

16 Nov

This is what I did today!

I bought some thicker wire to make the names stand out more than the last time. I absolutely love it! I thought since it was going to be thicker it would be harder to bend but it worked out quite well and they come in all different colors. This was way too much fun and it only takes a minute to do a name. I am still working on certain letters that are leaving me stumped..

These are the things I bought yesterday.

Yay more stamping things!! Good things will come of these later 😉

I am going to make mini puffs out of these for the Christmas gifts 😛 Oh crafting is so much fun!! The thing that I have probably figured out the most is when you really love doing something even if it takes hours it doesn’t feel like it. I can be sitting in my chair working on something while B plays video games or watches TV and the next time I look up it’s been 30 minutes and I feel like it’s been five! You get so lost in what you are doing that you really enjoy it and take it all in .. unlike chores that make the clock seem like it’s going sooo sloooowwww. Haha.

If you are keeping up with book reviews I am almost done with Little Earthquakes  by Jennifer Weiner. It started to pick up in the middle and before I knew it I was only 100 pages from being done! So I’ll be doing a final review on that in the next couple of days depending on how much reading time I get this week.

Did anyone watch the Steelers game Sunday night? Oooh so depressing but Wallace got me a ton of points on Fantasy football! He picked up well considering we lost Ward. Did you hear that they let Reed the kicker go?? I had him on my team too but not anymore! I was actually surprised about that one because even though he messed up a pretty easy goal he didn’t seem to be doing that bad. Well during all those commercial breaks for time outs, injuries, and craziness I got a lot of crocheting done. If I get another night like that I’ll have two sleeves in no time! Maybe I’ll start working on that now..

Hope you enjoy!

Love Always,

J

You mean you actually read the instruction manual? Why..

11 Nov

My first sleeve is finally done!! For all of you who crochet out there I know you can remember your first project where you felt like you had no idea what you were doing and when you got part of it finished or all of it finished the successful feeling that I am feeling 🙂 I started the second sleeve but I have trouble counting when there’s other noises and distractions in the room .. aka B and football which makes him excited and talkative and .. well loud 😛 I love him. So I will be continuing that tomorrow while he’s at work 😉

I am the kind of person that has trouble following rules and taking hints. I started this project reading the instructions and since the first day I have been kind of doing it my own way, teaching myself something else and continuing. I have had to completely undo two half-sleeves and start over and I am so happy to say that I finally completed one even though if I had followed the instructions I probably would be almost finished with it. But that’s just the way I am..

The instructions on this manual are in all abreviations which in the back explain it in a little more detail but if you are anything like me who doesn’t really get it until I try a couple of times without the instructions being abbreviated then you understand my struggle. I know that this first sweater is not going to be perfect but it’s going to be functional and I am going to be so proud when it’s done! Then after that I hope that I like it enough to keep working on it and slowly get better with each one because this is the kind of project I can do and still be seriously lazy.. as long as B isn’t talking football in my ear 😉

Update on E: I checked her temperature after her nap and it’s still a 99.6 and it doesn’t seem to be budging. I gave her some more tylenol but if it’s still this way tomorrow I think I am going to be a little worried. This whole time I have been thinking that it is teething because she’s not eating food that she has to chew very well. She’s been shoving down all the half frozen fruit I have been feeding her thinking it will help numb up her gums. She was drinking great for me the first day of sickness but it’s been decreasing each day. Since it’s a low-grade fever it hasn’t been to scary for me but it has been a couple of days. There might be a call to the pediatrician tomorrow.. I’ll keep you updated on that.

Other then that I am debating between Christmas cards and reading right now .. maybe a little of both?

Love Always,

J

King Pinz, Call of Duty, and the McRib!

9 Nov

Yesterday we celebrated B’s birthday and I promised pictures .. unfortunately I forgot my camera so I am using google pictures (minus B’s card and E’s pic) to give you a feel of the night.

The place looked like this:

The girls drank these:

The boys drank these:

E wore daddy’s favorite shirt:

and since we aren’t spending money on each other for gives I gave B this:

Then we came back to the house for some fresh hot BROWNIES!

It was an awesome night and right now? Yeah B is playing Call of Duty: Black Opps with no interruptions 🙂 I even went to McDonald’s to buy him a McRib so he could eat his favorite McDonald’s meal and keep playing. I love him.

Love Always,

J

Football Crazy?

4 Nov

Tonight B and I have been swapping channels between two shows. The Virginia Tech football game (yes we are Hokie fans) and Top 100 NFL’s Greatest Players. I was never a huge fan of football. I was a cheerleader when I was too little to know what I was really doing 😉 and then I was taking pictures for the school newspaper at the games in high school. The most that I knew about football was all the football players at our school were complete jerks and that super bowl always ended up on or really close to my birthday. Sometime in highschool when the Super Bowl Party at Seaford Baptist Church became a huge hit is when I started actually paying attention. There would be hundreds of people gathered in a huge gym on a seriously large projector screen and the kitchen filled with snacks and drinks no one could ever seem to finish off. It was a bring your own chair and that was seriously my favorite part of it. Just imagine hundreds of different people with hundreds of different kinds of chairs (people even brought lazy-boys and couches) and blankets and galore. I would get my group of high school friends together and we would go eat, giggle, watch the commercials, and laugh at the guys who stood up and screamed defeat or praise during the game! I think to be exact it was my sophomore or junior year that I fell in love with Troy Polamalu. Something about the way he did somersaults in the air and came out of no where with all those interceptions that caught my attention. My jaw dropped and I was completely astonished at the way this man moved. I guess I was so used to guys running back and for catching, throwing, tackling, falling, and the random touchdown that when I saw Polamalu move through the air I was hooked. I didn’t know what he was doing, how he did it, or really much of the purpose but he got me interested.

I have slowly throughout the years been taught and picked up on things here and there and I know the basics (not all of them but most of them) and each year I am asking B twenty-one more questions and getting better but my love for Polamalu will never change. B bought me a Polamalu jersey which is a huge surprise because he is a die-hard Redskins fan and that I must say is Love. So as I sit here and watch the list of Top 100 football players and I only know a handful mostly the ones that have played the past few years and Joe Montana because my Aunt was obsessed with him 🙂 I love her.

So all of you die-hard football lovers can mock me and make fun of me all you want for being completely clueless but I am standing true to my man. I LOVE YOU TROY! Go Steelers 😉

Love Always,

J

And this is where it all begins!

24 Oct

I started out this blog completely clueless about what I wanted to write about. I figured I’d start talking about my everyday life and a few people might follow along. Then I realized that this is a great place to get me back on track with my crafts and fun mom things I’ve wanted to do for sometime. THEN my sister got me hooked on books and now I have been reviewing things left and right thanks to this new survey thing I started. The best part of all is that I seem to be balancing all of these things and still getting my mom things done! (Even more so before because now I have motivation!) It’s amazing that this all started with my husband thinking about writing his own blog about sports, movies, and video games (the three loves of his life besides E and I of course) and what do you know.. I am the one blogging while he is still watching sports, movies, and playing video games. Haha I love him. But seriously the second I can get B to start blogging he will be on my blogroll list because he is an amazing writer.

It’s been exciting learning more about myself, other mothers out there, and for once in my life not feeling like I am not ping-ponging!! HOORAYY! I have mastered multi-tasking and not given up on one project yet. So keep your eyes open all you followers. Before you know it, this blog is going to make history 😛 Just kidding but wouldn’t it be cool!!? Haha. No but seriously, I said a little Thank you to all my 50 followers and this morning I don’t know what happened but my post titled Martha Stewart Hates Me 😉 got 189 views.. I hit over 200 today for the first time in my life I felt like I was reaching out to people! Okay okay, enough bragging. I get it, your yawning out there. Get back to the crafts J.. So here we go:

I promised an updated picture of my crocheting so here it is!

Sorry for the bad lighting and terrible picture quality. Love the convenience and hate the quality of camera phones!

I haven’t made it to the craft store today but it is on my list for tomorrow along with a trip to the library to pick up The Accidental Mother by Rowan Coleman. I am so excited!! I read the first 50 pages of this book using the Nook on Barnes and Noble (check out my previous post titled Book, Nook, Hooked if you are curious). Oh and I think I am getting a pick for E to review from my sister, K. That just might be the start of my review of children’s things because I sure have a lot to say about the toys this child has gotten!

Expect a couple of reviews from back when Emma was stationary. I am heading to the beginning and reviewing all those wonderful baby shower items and cleaning it out at the same time! YAY for decluttering!!

Yes that’s me prego with my all my gifts and little E in my belly!! Wow I look so much younger there …

Stay in touch.

Love Always,

J
