Holiday Weekend Fun :)

26 Nov

Emma had a blast this thanksgiving weekend. Thursday we went over to see the North side of the family and Emma got to play football with her cousins and color with Dodo:

All that good food and playing led to this on the way home:

One zonked out child 😉 It was only a matter of minutes when we got her in the seat to get to this state!

Friday we had thanksgiving with the Durhams where Emma got to play with Tyler:

They are like two peas in a pod! Playing ball, building lego houses, puzzles, and chasing each other through the house. I have a feeling these two are going to enjoy growing up together.

Saturday we spent the day at Josh & Sarah’s house dog sitting. Emma spent a majority of the day building “sand castles with slides”:

and pretending to be a princess with the new necklace that mommy made:

Sunday was Papa’s birthday! So Emma went to Nana and Dodo’s house to play while the grown up went out to the movies and dinner.

This was on family filled holiday weekend! I hope your weekend was just as entertaining 🙂

Love Always,

J

Happy Thanksgiving!

22 Nov

This year for Thanksgiving – we are spending time in Front Royal with Brian’s side of the family. We do it potluck style where we each bring  something, we catch up, watch the game (I married into a Redskins family), and eat!! I can picture it now – the men in their jersey’s hanging out in front of the TV, the women talking about life, and Emma running around like she’s been eating sugar for weeks 😉

So while that image entertains you (hopefully as much as it entertains me) here’s a list of things I am thankful for this year:

My loving family.

The ability to do what I love each day.

That even though sometimes we are stressed out and trying to make things work around here – that we are able to do it and we make it through all the hard times together.

I know that there is WAY more to be thankful of but right now, those are the most important for me 🙂
What are you thankful for this year?

Love Always,

J

Our Little Family.

21 Nov

It’s not often that the three of us go out together. If we are all home then usually one person stays with Emma and the other will run errands or one of us will take Emma out while the other stays home. Since a majority of the time Brian and I are both working there isn’t much time that we have together that overlaps and when we do we like to spend it together being lazy and enjoying each other’s company.

My schedule this year has picked up and we’ve been working a majority of four days a week instead of three – which I am not complaining about all! I love providing child care and watching the girls play together. Brian’s schedule is a normal Monday – Friday schedule but he has most Tuesdays off.

Almost every Tuesday I dedicate to running errands, getting groceries, and getting ready for the next week. I like to do all those things during the week because it’s so crowded on the weekends so it’s much more relaxing to go while everyone else is busy. Saturday’s and Sunday’s are when I get to work in the studio or we have family events. It’s a rare occasion around here when we don’t have at least one thing to do on the weekend.

Thanks to thanksgiving break this week and last Tuesday doing 99% of my errands for two weeks – this Tuesday was going to be an easy day. I only had one errand to run and we were all going out as a family together 🙂 Since this doesn’t happen often I like to soak it up and enjoy it!

I spent the morning getting ready, doing my hair and make up (which hardly happens), getting Emma ready, and cleaning up the house so we’d come home to no chores. Once we were all in the car I snapped a picture of Emma:

I think she was pretty excited about going out with both of us. We went to Harris Teeter to pick up rolls for Thanksgiving and a few other things. Watching Brian push her in the cart and chat with her was adorable! I don’t know what it is about men and their children but it makes my heart melt!

After wiping one Harris Teeter out of rolls we realized we needed to make another stop at a different Harris Teeter. Emma found it amusing that we were going to another grocery store!

It wasn’t much but I loved it.

Better Homes: Holiday Crafts! Magazine Review

Better Homes: Holiday Crafts!

Magazine Review Time 🙂

Well let’s see here. It didn’t take much for me to want this magazine the second I saw it on the rack. Just the front cover had me giddy for multiple reasons. 1) I love making Christmas presents 2) I love the holidays in general 3) It’s Better Homes and Gardens

Since this is a special interest magazine they only have four a year but between this one and DIY together. I may have found my perfect match in inspirational magazines. Like I said in my last post about Better Homes and Gardens: I love their pictures, their how to pictures, their supply lists, and they way they give instructions but what I also love..

Is that this particular magazine comes with PATTERNS! Not only do they tell you how to make it – they give you all the pattern pieces to make it NOW! I am resisting the urge to quit blogging so that I can go make Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas presents right now.

So while I’m sitting here impatiently waiting to go get crafty crazy I’ll go ahead and finish this post for you 😉

Sadly I can’t find where I can just subscribe to this particular magazine 😦 I’ve looked all over the Better Homes and Gardens Magazine website and it got me no where. This magazine by itself costs a whopping $5.99 for loads of amazing inspiration and How To’s. It’s totally worth the buy and if I can ever find the subscription page I’ll update it for the total cost for a year or two or whatever they offer 😉

  • 5 points for ideas & inspiration
  • 5 points for easy how to and guide steps
  • 5 points for exciting pictures & fun reads
  • 2 points for the amount of issues
  • 5 points for price (5.99 for one issue)

Four out five stars for this one!

Thanks for stopping by!

Love Always,

J

Black Friday Finds!

25 Nov

I’ll go ahead and start off by saying that I never go shopping on Black Friday and if I do – I don’t leave the house until 2:00 pm when I’m positive the crazies are gone 😉 This year was a different adventure for sure!

I start out at 10 pm yesterday waiting outside of GameStop with my husband to get him a 3D Nintendo DS. As we were driving there I was holding my breath because I was pretty sure this trip would scar me for life! When we get there we were pleasantly surprised that we were the first ones! As more people showed up in the line the more we all got to talking and laughing. I’ve never had more fun waiting in a line before than this time. It helped that everyone has the same thing in common – a love for video games and excitement for getting a good deal!

After being first in line and having such a good experience I started thinking that I can handle this madness!!

I went to bed that night (morning) woke up eight hours later, ate breakfast, got ready and decided to head to JoAnns for some Christmas shopping with my mom and mother-in-law! My mom and I have decided since I was high school that it’s just easier to go shopping together and buy each other our presents together that way we each get something we really want instead of having to guess! So shopping we went. After getting there and realizing that the fabric deals were too good to pass up – I decided to stock up on my materials for the craft shows for next year and stock up I did!

Right there is roughly around 150 yards of fabric. I could have bought more but I limited myself!! If you’re not sure why I went all out – let me just explain to you.. Solid Flannel at retail price costs $5.99 + Decorative Flannel at retail costs $4.99. Normally this amount of fabric would have cost me about $800 dollars which I obviously don’t have to spend right now! How much did I save? Since all the flannel was $1.99 plus we had a 25% of all item coupon – we saved over $600. I’ll be set for the year 😉 That’s just a price you can’t beat!!

So where I swore I’d never be a Black Friday crazy person – I now am committed to being a Black Friday Crafty crazy person. 😀

Now who wants to help me cut all this fabric? haha 😉

Happy Black Friday everyone!

Love Always,

J
